I was nervous. So very nervous; surely Cara had been joking when she said I'd have to walk through the wall. I mean it was clearly a solid brick wall? And here I was standing here, staring at it, probably looking like a complete loon.
See, my name is Kaylie. My parents are Muggles. So how am I supposed to know anything about magical objects? I'm a very sceptical child, so I didn't even believe that magic existed until Cara had received her Hogwarts letter. Not through the mail, not delivered by the postman. But pushed through the letter slot by an owl. The initial shock started to wear off over Cara's previous two years of education at the Wizardry and Witchcraft school. Mum and Dad even brought her her OWN owl. A gorgeous black tawny named Juran.
But they made the mistake of expecting that she would hang around to make sure I got through properly. So here I am… Still standing here, not knowing if I should believe her, or run the risk of falling for one of her practical jokes.
A timid voice broke me out of my musings. "Um, are you alright? Do you need some help?"
I opened my eyes and they met with a pair of bright green orbs, which were framed by a shaggy black mane, the boy had a female companion and she reminded me of a pixie. She looked small and fragile, with large brown eyes and bright red hair, with a bored expression on her face.
"Y-Yes please. My sister told me I had to walk through the wall. But she has a long past of playing tricks on me. I've never come to see her off before so I don't actually know what to do. And she ran off and left…" I rambled, suddenly embarrassed at my over talking.
"It's all good. We always come, so we know how. Here, take my hand and I'll help you through then I'll come back and get our luggage. It wont hurt." The girl offered.
I gratefully accepted.
My hand was awfully clammy and I hoped it didn't make her uncomfortable. I shut my eyes and ran. I waited, waited for the collision paired with the searing pain and embarrassment. But when I opened my eyes, I was standing in the packed station. The girl had disappeared back through the wall already, giving me time to take in my surroundings. Smoke rose from the gleaming red train, making it very hard to see. All around me was families saying goodbye. It made me wish that my parents hadn't been working… it made me lonely.
I gave a little shriek as a hand came down on my shoulder. But it was just the girl. Whose name I still didn't know. In fact I didn't know anything about her or her attractive companion. I suppose that introductions would be in order.
"Thankyou so much for helping me. Sometimes I can get really anxious and its nice to know that there are still some nice people out there. I'm Kaylie, I'm a first year." Polite and short incase they turned out to be nuttos.
"I'm Albus Potter, this is my cousin Rose Weasley. We're starting first year aswell!"
"Awesome!" I think I have just made my first two friends.
