Disclaimer: I am not Cassandra Clare. Would I be writing this if I were?
Alec could not explain it.
He did not want to explain it. It was something beyond words… putting his grief, his pain, his love in a box of words… there were no words, no power in the universe that could make such a box.
The person whom he loved, loved with his heart and soul, his very being, whom he loved more than his own existence… how could it happen? How could things be so wrong?
Alec cradled the corpse of Magnus Bane. Magnus Bane, who was his love. Magnus Bane, who was his life. His life had been taken away from him. Snatched away, snatched away so cruelly… so-so- inhumanly. But these words were not strong enough to express his feelings.
Was life even worth living? The essence of Alec's life had been taken away so brutally… Magnus…
Alec hugged Magnus dearly, as if his life depended on it. He didn't care about his life any more though. He wanted to be with Magnus… his Magnus… during and after life.
He gently brushed his lips against Magnus'. It was such a wonderful touch… would Alec be getting no more of it? One single tear fell on Magnus' face, but no more came. Tears were not strong enough… just not strong enough…
"I will never leave you alone, Magnus Bane," Alec whispered against his lips, "I will always be with you."
Isabelle arrived there after thirty minutes. She had to comfort Alec. What would he be going through now?
Gingerly, she went to find her brother, calling out his name. No reply could be heard. Isabelle was afraid; had Alec been attacked?
She called out again, walking ahead, looking around, when she stumbled upon something. Her eyes widened, bleak and yet shocked. She fell on her knees, unable to believe this. No… no!
"Alec…!" she whispered, "Alec…"
For Alec lay next to Magnus, a smile on his face, his eyes closed. He looked serene, as if he was in a good, deep sleep. Isabelle just stared at her brother's face, unable to think, unable to do anything.
Why…?
And then her eyes saw why.
Her sad eyes took in the hands, Alec holding Magnus' hand as tightly as he could, so tightly that they could not be separated. Not by earthly forces, not by divine forces.
Isabelle could not do anything for a while. Then, she grabbed their hands. Magnus' fingers were not curled around Alec's hand. Isabelle gently curled them around Alec's hand.
Tears fell from her eyes but she smiled. She looked at their hands. Now they were truly inseparable, united. Their bond, their love… it was unbreakable and something as puny as death could not break that.
Isabelle kissed Alec on the forehead, stroked his cheek as her tears fell on his peaceful face.
She hugged her dead brother tightly but made sure that Alec and Magnus kept holding hands.
Because you just don't stop loving after death.
I cried while I wrote this! I don't know whom I feel the worst for, whether it is Magnus, Alec or Izzy. Reviews mean a lot to me. Please review if you have time to…
