They say that you never know what you got until you lose it, in this case he knew, he knew exactly what he had but he never realised that one day he was going to lose it, he always thought that she would be by his side no matter what.

They were friends since first year, maybe not completely close until later on, but they were still friends that went on to being best friends, throughout the years, throughout the struggle, throughout the pain. They stood up for each other no matter what, she believed him when no one else did, she always stayed by her side, even if he never acted the same way.

Thinking back now he was an idiot. He knew she cared for him but no matter what, he still threw it away because he finally got the family he wanted with his friends family.

They had all lost something in the war, but he lost someone that didn't die, but to him it felt like she could've due to the fact that he hasn't heard off her when he basically ignored her at the last get together. He knew he was stupid thinking back but he just wanted to feel like he belonged.

He knew he shouldn't of kissed his friends little sister back as soon as it happened, he saw her as family but it had come as such a shock he instantly responded.

So when the family started to congratulate them he never even noticed her leaving out the door to the lake hidden down the hill where she cried herself to sleep under the tree.

He knew he ruined something beautiful when he next saw her, she had lost weight and it seemed like she hadn't slept in months.

So there he was nearly a year later stood at the end of the alter, doing what he thought was right because his friends family thought so, he had stood at the end of the alter wondering why he bought her the ring, proposed and why the hell he was standing there right then. It's not like his wife-to-be appreciates the fact that he wants a family to treasure, when he was going to use his mothers engagement ring she just scoffed and asked why would he use that old ring, basically making him buy a new expensive one for her.

In the end he realised that it was his own fault he was in this mess, he shouldn't of took her for granted. He needed to find her, beg her for forgiveness, he couldn't live fully without her in his life.

So there stood Harry James Potter on the bench outside Hermione Jean Grangers door waiting for her to get home so he could truly tell her how he feels.
