"Sir, we are about to exit hyperspace at the given coordinates."
"Excellent, captain. Alert the TIE Scout pilots to prepare to leave and verify given hyperspace routes via short-burst transmissions bouncing off Imperial Sensor Nodes they leave behind every successful jump."
"Yes, sir. Exiting hyperspace in three, two, one..."
As the massive Star Destroyer came out of hyperspace and back into the void of space, all normal ship functions not critical before were powered up, as to make sure the Star Destroyer operated at maximum efficiency. With the ship now out of hyperspace, three squadrons consisting of four TIE Scout fighters each came out of the hangar, aligned themselves into their respective positions for hyperspace, and disappeared shortly after.
"Alert Captain Pellaeon and Lord Vader that they are clear for hyperspace. We will remain here for two days until materials needed for a space station arrive. By then, I expect a complementary defense fleet to arrive and protect the space station while under construction."
As the Nirvana was cruising amongst the stars filling the empty void of space, the crew of the ship were quite enjoying themselves, for however long that was possible. Most of the women and the few men have been getting along quite well over the past several weeks, but relations were deteriorating from time to time. On the bridge, an elderly woman, Magno Vivan, the captain of the Nirvana, was talking with B.C, her second-in-command, reminiscing about some past events. But, she was quickly notified of an unknown vessel appearing out of nowhere on scanners, almost as if they teleported. Finally deciding to treat this signal as a hostile target, and a target worth plundering, Magno gave the word over the ship-wide announcement system that all Dread pilots were to prepare themselves for an attack. The several minutes of preparation were spent launching the Dreads, along with assigning 'orders' for refilling of ammunition and refueling should it be necessary. Once the Dreads have been launched, they went into a few common attack formations, deciding to probe the defenses of this mysterious vessel.
"So who are these guys, anyway?
"I don't know, Jura, but they can't mean any good."
Dread pilot leader, Meia Gibson, stated, as she looked at the rectangular-looking ship as closely as she could, deciding the best course of action. Alas, a decision would be made for her, as the Nirvana received an incoming transmission from the ship.
"Attention unidentified vessel, you are encroaching on an Imperial expedition launched from Dromund Kaas and have shown hostile intent. Power down your weapons, return your fighters to their hangars and prepare to be boarded."
In that precise moment, both the Nirvana and the Star Destroyer detected several unidentified ships approaching, albeit, the Star Destroyer was the first to notice, due to its superior scanner range. A supplement of TIE Fighters was to be released, two squadrons consisting of seven fighters each, to be precise. Not long after, both ships came under attack by cube-like ships, which the Empire was unable to identify. The Nirvana, the ship the Star Destroyer was meant to impound, slipped away unnoticed, and went to a safe distance as to let the Dreads take on the enemy ships.
"Sir, the enemy has already destroyed one of our TIE Fighter squadrons! They're unlike anything we've seen!"
"Captain, I want all turbolaser batteries to prepare to fire on my command, keep us broadside and start aligning the concussion missile targeting parameters."
"Yes, sir. Preparing concussion missiles and turbolasers."
As the Star Destroyer went on full combat readiness, it began sending burst messages to the incoming defense fleet, which was, according to replies received, ahead of scheduled arrival, only meager hours away from exiting hyperspace. Knowing full well that reinforcements were on their way, the admiral ordered the crew to maintain a status quo until reinforcements arrive to overwhelm the attackers. However, seeing the Nirvana and its crew chip away at the alien cubes, along with what would appear as a mobile space mech, combining with these strange fighter models, gave the admiral some form of confidence. Ordering the turbolasers to fire, the Star Destroyer focused fire on larger targets that were in the immediate vicinity and optimal range of the turbolasers. With several enemy crafts shaped like balls skimming across the surface of the Star Destroyer, having now raised some sort of jagged metal from inside of them, they caused some hull damage, alongside successfully decompressing several critical areas of the Star Destroyer.
"Sir, report from the central defense hub! They have successfully stopped further decompression of the room, however, the damages done to the automated defense system are too great to repair easily!"
"I want the engineers to switch off the automated defense system, and I want auxiliary gunners to take charge of the defenses, manually."
"As you wish, sir. This change will leave us vulnerable for several minutes, but I expect the gunners to be more than adequate in making up."
"You had better hope so, captain. For your sake, and mine."
Half an hour later, as the last of the enemies were destroyed and the damages assessed by both the Nirvana and the Star Destroyer, the Dreads were called back, having suffered only one casualty, along with some hull damage, but with no crew members dying, whilst the other side lost nearly three quarters of its fighter supplement, and one singular squad of bombers, alongside extensive hull damage, a destroyed shield generator, three turbolasers offline, and 178 Stormtroopers and 57 crew members, amongst them officers, gunners, engineers and auxiliary personnel lost. Magno Vivan, deciding it would be best to leave as soon as possible, ordered a retreat. However, a communique from the Star Destroyer kept her from leaving, being curious as to what its admiral has to say.
"Unidentified ship, although you have shown hostile intent, you have also helped us repel a common enemy. I am giving you one more chance to surrender peacefully, or we will use force."
"Force? You speak to me of force, but look to what your ship's reduced to. I don't think it can even chase us due to its size."
"You will find that we have many more surprises. Is the tractor beam projector still operational?"
As communications ended, Magno didn't want to know what other surprises they had in store, and thus, ordered once more to high tail it out of there. But as they started moving, rather fast, too, they stopped violently.
"What's happened? Bart, what's going on?"
"I-I don't know, captain! I'm trying to move it, but it won't go an inch!"
"We're caught in some sort of beam, captain. It would appear that it's rendering us immobile."
A diagnostics operator said, not being too far from the captain.
"Is that so...? Well, why don't we prepare a welcoming committee for them?"
