A longer Summary: After (finally) finding ONE part of Tartarus that doesn't house all the freakiest, most terrifying, evil, sinister monsters and souls possible, Percy tries to get Annabeth to stop worrying about every single thing on Earth(though Percy's worrying about each and every single one those things too). So what does he do ? Well, naturally, brush up on things he missed while sleeping for eight months. "So, what'd I miss while I was gone ?" He asked casually. Annabeth rolled her eyes. "A lot, Seaweed Brain. A lot."
So, end of the world, terrifying monsters, annoying visions courtesy of Gaia, no idea how their friends were doing, no idea whether they would be able to save the world, no idea if he would ever see his friends or family or camp or food or anything nice ever again, oh and did he mention it was freezing in Tartarus ? It was freezing in Tartarus.
And after finally finding a (sort of) cave where all the terrifying voices and essences of the horrifyingly evil souls and monsters (it was too terrifying to even think of them, forget about a description) present down there couldn't reach them as clearly, all Percy wanted to do was see Annabeth rested and not-so-harrowed and worried.
Of course, there was a lot to worry about. Just thinking about all the things to worry about got him worrying. And he didn't want to start thinking about the current mess they were in when they were in the world's most desolate, gloomy place that bogged you down with hopelessness just by being there.
He needed to make it less gloomy.
For both of them.
Just looking at how beautiful Annabeth looked in the soft bronze light cast by his gleaming sword made the prospect of staying alive, battling monsters day and night and locating the incredibly hard-to-find doors of death a lot better. And a lot mire achievable
.
Again, he needed to make it less gloomy for both of them.
He reminded himself that Annabeth wasn't gonna ogle him the way he was ogling her and feel better. Her Athenian brain needed a real challenge.
So he decided to ease the tension. Also, he needed to distract her from the pain. Her ankle hadn't been properly tended to and she looked like she would die trying not to let him notice it as she sat down on the cold black floor in the light of the faintly gleaming Riptide he held.
"So, Wise Girl, what'd I miss while I was gone ?" He asked her casually.
She looked at him and her face lost all trace of worry. She broke into a grin. "You really wanna do this now ?" She asked him, smirking a little as she did so.
"Hey ! No time like the present, right ?"
She rolled her eyes. "What do you wanna know ?"
"What I missed out on while I was gone." He replied simply.
"Good thing we have all the time in the world." She smirked.
"Exactly how much did I miss ?" He asked her, suddenly scared.
He suddenly wished he'd thought I'd a different tactic to ease thes tension. Oh,well, it was too late now. He'd just have to go with it.
"Oh, nothing at all ! Nothing different had happened the entire seven months that you were gone !"
"Oh shut up Annabeth !" He punched her shoulder playfully and grinned.
"But really, how much did I miss ?" He looked at her reluctantly.
"She rolled her eyes and replied, "A lot, Seaweed Brain. A lot."
"Do I wanna know ?"
"Oh, trust me Seaweed Brain, you wanna know."
