CHAPTER ONE

Your POV

I sit on the rock-hard bed, my back against the rusty cement wall. A few small slithers of moonlight entered my room through a small window. The window was magic repellent and too small for me to escape through. Trust me, I've already tried. My tangled (h/c) covered my face as I rest my head between my knees. I felt like crying, but I couldn't. I had no more tears left to cry. I heard the door to my cell squeak open due to the lack of maintenance, I did no attempt to get of the hard bed.

"0391, Get up, it's time for your next session." The harsh voice of the guard sent to retrieve me spoke with authority.

Again, I stayed still. I know what the consequences were if I didn't listen, but honestly, I didn't care anymore. They've damaged me. The guard - who was gradually angered at my unresponsiveness -walked over to me, gripping my shoulder tightly with his left hand he used his right hand and pulled on my hair harshly, yanking it downwards making me face him. I closed my eyes tightly but stayed quiet. His grip lessened on my hair and the removal of his hand on my shoulder caused me to slowly open my eyes just to see him have his hand in a first and pulled back, soon releasing it. His speeding hand towards my face made me squeeze my eyes shut. He punches me on my left cheek bone, a quiet popping noise reached my ears.

That wasn't the end.

He pushed me off the bed, making my hair sprawl out in front of me on the cold hard floor. He began to kick me in several places, and I know I was going to have new bruises, yet still I remained quiet and still. Two other guards, who must have heard the grunts from the man from kicking me, joined in on the beating. Graciously, after a while they got bored of my unresponsiveness. The original guards sent to get be grabbed me by my now blood coated hair, dragging me to my next session, I grabbed on to his wrist in an attempt to reduce the pain on my throbbing scalp.

People covered by white cloth and wearing a mask grabbed me once the guards dropped me off. They tired rope around my wrists and ankles, then raising me above a deep dark hole, which seemed to go down forever. My back was towards the black abyss while I had a complete view of the very high large glass window.

"Start the session." An unidentified male voice shouted across the room.

I shut my eyes, readying my body for the pain that will soon follow after that voice. Strong electrical currents traveled through the ropes and reaching my body. Honestly, no matter how much I prepare by myself the pain is always stronger and harsher. My screams flooded the room, echoing loudly against the walls. The currents stopped.

"We're getting nowhere with this session, or any of the previous sessions." a man growled.

"But sir, she's gotten further than any of our previous subject." This time a girl spoke, "and she hasn't died at this point."

"I don't care; put the magic growth shocks to maximum." That was the end of any conversation.

The currents activated once again, this time a pain so strong, I pain like nothing before. Tears forced themselves down my cheeks, a few falling into the endless abyss others mixing in with my hair. My screams reached a new octave; F6? I'm guessing. I felt something inside me break, suddenly a raging white heat spread throughout my body. All the anger, sorrow, and pain that was kept pent up inside me broke out along with every ounce of magic power I could muster up from within. My magic radiated off me in visible magic waves, making those that were once standing, fall to their knees from the magical pressure. The machines broke, shutting down the entire buildings power source freeing any of the other test subjects in the hellhole. I walked in midair till I reached solid ground. Once I touched the ground, I raised my hand towards the group of cowering masked people. "Moon Goddess: Lunar beam" all the magic in the air suddenly condensed at my hand forming a silvery blue ball that shot forward, killing the people in front of me. I dropped to my knees, exhausted. My vision blurred, I wanted to sleep but I couldn't. I forced myself up once again and began to somewhat run to a different room, the room containing the few things I love.

As I ran towards it, cult members started to sound the alarms calling reinforcements, but by now everyone in this place should have left. I saw the door to the room and swung it open. A single capsule containing a small kitten sized exceed, the walls having a silver armlets along with a green shawl wrap. I slide my armlet up my right arm and wrap the shawl around me, as if to carry a baby. I open the capsule, taking out the unconscious exceed and placing it in the shawl. I run out to find an exit.

Stopping in front of the exit, I glanced back, the red light on the wall spun in circles blaring loudly the alarm, I rested my hand of the handle, I was going to be free at last. With a firm push, a rush of fresh air filled my lungs 'it's been so long'. I busted out running, never looking back. I ran and ran, free at last.
