JKRowling owns Harry Potter, no lies.

We will always be remembered as two people who made the ultimate sacrifice for our son. The parents of the Boy Who Lived. The reason he lived. But James and I, we don't see it like that. Harry was our baby, our world. He was the reason we lived.

People see us as heroes, and they're right.

James, don't exaggerate.

Sorry, love. Carry on.

When James and I left school, Lord Voldemort's reign of terror had begun in earnest, and we wanted to fight. Our side was losing, but we'd seen terrible things happen on his orders, and knew he had to be stopped, whatever the cost. When we told Albus Dumbledore so, he welcomed us into the newly formed Order of the Phoenix. Together, we fought with everything we had.

It's hard to explain how we felt, right, Lils? We had each other, and our friends. To us, it didn't matter the outcome, so long as we were together. People told us we were too young to understand, that fighting as if you had nothing to lose could only end with one of us losing everything. But we did understand. We went in to every fight knowing it was possible we wouldn't walk out. And I think that's why we won so many. There's no beating someone who fights with absolute abandon, especially when he has a beautiful woman next to him fighting just a hard.

Oh so cute, you are. Two things mattered to me. James, and winning. We were in every fight we could get close to. We almost always won. Of course, have the best we did people fighting with us.

It wasn't until Lily was pregnant that we went from having something to fight for to having someone to fight for. We had someone we needed to come back to. Harry was everything to us.

And it wasn't long until Dumbledore told us we were in danger. Voldemort was hunting us. Not actually because of anything we'd ever done to him, although he would be glad to be rid of us. He was after Harry. We didn't fully understand why, but Dumbledore helped us set up a way to go into hiding. Sirius would be our Secret-Keeper.

We didn't know what would happen after that. We couldn't hide forever. But we could try.

At the last moment, Sirius persuaded us to use Peter Pettigrew as our Secret-Keeper.

The Traitor.

It seemed the perfect plan. Voldemort wouldn't suspect it, you see. And nobody knew, not even Dumbledore. Our plan was working. Everything was fine. Until suddenly, it wasn't.

He found us. I didn't even have time to get my wand. We existed, we were real, and in a moment we were just memories. But we were always with Harry. He was still our world.

He became everything he was meant to be. And we're so proud.

Not really sure where this came from, I just started writing. . .
