Brittle ash fell to bare bones. It was all that was left of them now. She sat atop him -a conquered mountain- having burned it all away. He smeared the soot upon her skin staining -branding- what once was pure. In the quiet all that remained were cinders and two silent prayers -for strength- so when the smoke finally cleared they would be able to rise -together- and live.
