"This day is going to be perfect
The kind of day of which I dreamed since I was small
Everypony will gather 'round
Say I look lovely in my gown
What they don't know is that I have fooled them all!"
The door to "Cadence"'s bedroom opened and a grey Pegasus walked in, mail saddlebag across the mare's back.
"Um, letter for you Princess. I hope I'm not interrupting anything." the mailmare named Derpy said, a letter in her hoof and her cross-eyes looking at "Cadence" expectantly.
"Cadence" sighed and with a look of resignation finally replied. "Fine, give it here."
Derpy handed her the letter and turned to walk away, but before she could, a spell hit her in the back of her head. She disappeared in a flash of green light.
"Now, where was I? Oh, yes." there was an intake of breath.
"I could care less about the dress
I won't partake in any cake
Vows? Well, I'll be lying when I say
That through any kind of weather
I'll want us to be together
The truth is I don't care for him at all!"

Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of Number Four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much. They were the last people you'd expect to be involved in anything strange or mysterious. Because they didn't just hold with such nonsense.
Therefore, the Dursleys would never had wanted to be associated with the Potters. Mrs. Potter was Mrs. Dursley's sister, but they have not met in years. Mrs. Dursley liked to pretend that she didn't have a sister, as the Potters were as unDursleyish as possibly can be.
So when the Dursleys found Harry Potter on their doorstep one Halloween night, they took him in with much reluctance.
We now turn our attention eight years from that fateful day, where a young Harry was asleep in his 'room' or more properly, the cupboard under the stairs. It was here that the impossible happened on Harry Potter's ninth birthday. He only wished for one thing.
I wish for a friend, Harry thought.Someone who will be nice to me.
You see, there was a reason for his wish. The Dursleys would have Harry cook and clean for them, with not so much as a thank-you. Mr. and Mrs Dursley had a son named Dudley, and his favourite game was called 'Harry-Hunting'. It doesn't take much to understand what that entailed.
All of his life, Harry had been discouraged from thinking anything supernatural (or 'freakish') could happen. So he was very surprised when there was a sudden heavy weight on top of him.
"Oof!" proclaimed Harry, and as he looked up he saw large yellow crossed eyes staring back at him his green eyes reflected in them. And both parties did what was natural
They screamed.
