It annoyed me that there were no humans in The Lion King, so I wanted to make a poem about possible interactions between the animals and them. It ended up being about why humans are now the "king of the jungle," which, although not my original intent, turned out ok, so I kept it.
Enjoy!
Long before Ahadi,
Humans and lions went to war.
First it was over game,
Then land became a struggle.
The battles were bitter.
Humans, not having claws,
Used sharp stones on sticks.
They fought ferociously.
More bold than the hyenas.
But, in the end,
The lions kept their territory,
And the humans were driven to the plains.
Then, during the reign of Kovu,
Humans returned, but these were different.
They had new, colored fur, and shot their teeth from pipes.
The humans were faster too, great, noisy rhinos carried them.
Skirmishes that used to last for days, ended in minutes;
The Pridelands were in trouble.
At last, Kovu sent command to flee.
No paw, but foot, steps on Pride Rock now.
