And just like that everything had changed, their relationship with each other, their coworkers, their boss was going to be completely different all because of his stupidity.
It had been an easy case, a commanding officers daughter was kidnapped and all evidence pointed to Steven Reni a disgruntled marine in the CO's unit. Derek, the CO had said although Steven was not stupid, he doubted he was smart enough to think of going into hiding, the team's best bet would be Reni's house.
The team arrived at Reni's house around seven that night, there were lights coming from the house, one from the kitchen and the other from what appeared to be a bedroom. The team split into two groups, McGee and Tony would take the front and Gibbs and Ziva would take the back. It was so simple all they had to do was rescue the girl and arrest Reni; it had been an open shut case.
Tony entered the living room, then McGee it was all clear so Tony made his way to the kitchen. Tony checked behind the bathroom door and peered up the stairs leading to the second floor. It seemed all clear so he gave McGee the okay and was about to look elsewhere. Then out of nowhere Tony heard a crack and a scream, he turned around to see Steven Reni holding a steel rod and McGee was on the ground. He didn't think twice, he shot Reni in the shoulder then called out to Gibbs and Ziva who had found Derek's daughter in the basement watching SpongeBob.
Reni hadn't actually come out of nowhere; he had come out of the pantry. Why hadn't he thought to check there? If he did maybe McGee wouldn't have gotten a steel rod to the side of his head and the back of his knees. Yeah sure he knew McGee would recover and they rescued Derek's daughter and arrested Reni, everything would be okay soon enough. He still felt really guilty though, his teammate, best friend, and well partner was in the hospital because of him. All he had to do was check the one place he didn't think to, the pantry and his boyfriend, lover; his other half would be okay.
But it wasn't just that and he knew it, Tim being in the hospital was not the only thing making Tony anxious. Everybody knew about them now, well yeah Abby and Ziva already did, but now it wasn't just them in on their relationship. It was Palmer and Ducky and Gibbs even Director Vance! They all knew and surprisingly they found out before the doc had to talk to Tim's partner about his condition, but Tony didn't know that! At least before it wasn't all out in the open, not like now.
If only he could go back to before this happened, they had shared so many great times together Tony would gladly go back to any one of them. Even in the bad times, like really bad times they were still both conscious.
Yup if he could Tony would go back to the beginning and relive every memory since they have been together.
