If Only I Had Known

Disclaimer: Unfortunately I don't own them if I did Warrick would still be with us.

Authors note: Saddened as I am I must carry on and move onto the next best relationship, it does start out slow but it shall speed up.

It was a after the funeral, that it really hit her, she had left without saying a word to anyone. She hadn't spoke to anyone all day, not even Sarah who had flew back just for the funeral. How could she have not told him, it might have changed it all. She would have but she didn't know how, after all they had agreed it was never to be mentioned for the chance of it costing them their jobs, or worse their friendship. Her Mom had taken Lindsey home and now Catherine sat alone on the bed they had made love in, the bed that had changed her life forever.

He had noticed she had left but Greg had been talking his ear off about how much it was going to suck with without their teammate. Soon as he had said his goodbyes, he headed to her house figuring that she had taken hard and had to go home, but when he rang the doorbell it wasn't her who answered.

"Hey Nick, she's not here, I don't know where she is."

"It's ok Linds; I think I know where she is."

Walking up the drive to where his best friend had last lived, he found the door unlocked. Walking in he headed toward where he heard the sobs, and there in the middle of the bed he found her. Climbing gently next to her, he held her close to his chest.

"Catherine, it will be ok, it doesn't feel like it now but it will be."

"No Nicky it won't, I never got to tell him."

"He knew you loved him and he did you, but he was afraid to hurt you."

"I know that, if only I had known I could have told him."

"Told him what?"

"Nicky, about two months ago we spent a night together, but swore we would never speak of it, afraid of hurting each other."

"Cath, will you be ok?"

"Nicky, I don't know."

Not wanting to push her for what was bothering her, he just held her trying to calm her he knew after a while she would finally spill, but he knew keeping her here was only making it harder. Gently he picked her up after she had cried herself to sleep, and carried her to his Tahoe. Then drove her to his

place and curled up next to her in his bed. When she woke she wasn't sure where she was but then recognized the picture of Nick's parents. Rolling over she saw him he had stripped out of his shirt and was holding on to her. Waking him up she knew she was ready to tell him.

"Nicky I want to tell you what it was I wanted to tell him."

"K, what is it Cath?"

"Nicky, I'm pregnant, it's his, it's Warrick's."
