Left by ArlecchiNin

Summary: It was a better offer for the best. And they said you were leaving for good even when you do know that you've never left.

Disclaimer: Don't. Kishi does and he's awesome.

Warning: Devoted friendship, slight NaruSasu –because I can't see them any other way n.n (I am to blame, yes! I'm a guilty NaruSasu fan and I enjoy every second of it.)

Notes: I started writing this long ago. I was inspired by one of my best friends who said she'll be leaving for awhile and won't be able to get back at time for an unknown period of time.

So, yeah, my damned lateness calls often.

If you are reading it, you know.

ENJOY.

Loss,
those who have suddenly estranged their ways
away from you
Lost,
overwhelming feelings that flood your lungs
do scream with me
Lose,
what you so cherished without realizing
it was everything you had
Left.

Swooning like gentle sunbeams shifting from window to window. Sleepishly. They were all three enjoying the landscape.

"You are going to miss it, aren't you?" Ino asked softly stroking lightly at her friend's hand.

Chouji glanced up to the sky too. Bright blue, baby blue, watercolor blue, pastel blue, blueberry blue among shapeless cotton. His eyes darted around looking for the edible. Well, ninjutsu has a word in your ninja style, you know.

"Miss what?" his voice sounded annoyed as usual. His gaze fixed on the sky above, eyes tinged with concentration.

"The sky. Ours. Don't you…Chouji!" Ino's speech faded as she gave a stern look toward her other friend.

"Sorry, Shikamaru. I can't really get it yet though. Why are you leaving us?" Chouji sounded truly sad and his mind had actually forgotten about food.

Shikamaru frowned a bit. He didn't like that choice of words at all.

"I'm not leaving. I'm not being busy. I'm staying with you, guys. With you. With Naruto," his voice stopped all of a sudden.

Ino and Chouji exchanged looks and laughed. Shikamaru shook his head in response and kept staring at the clouds that moved from time to time in a slow pace.

"Why Naruto?" Ino asked finally. "He's not been close to you but since the Chuunin exams finals."

"I know him. When he is around I feel like walking next to him. He comes and goes a lot but he never actually leaves," explained Shikamaru to both his puzzled friends.

Ino sighed resting her chin on Shikamaru's shoulder while Chouji got more comfortable sitting in the green grass of their beloved Konoha. The leaves were already changing their colors.

A swift breeze fanned their faces as Ino and Chouji said respectively:

"Naruto has left."

"For Sasuke."

"He'll come back, you'll see," and the determination couldn't have been more crystal clear than that beautiful blue sky above, stained in a loud splash of sunlight.

Final notes: For you my beloved friend. Because I'll never forget to remember you. Because I cherish you so much and always will. And I really needed to express it to you writing a fiction about it because stories illustrate my feelings better than my letters sometimes and it's so much fun to do so too!

True friendship is a gift and therefore such an important part of yourself that you will never lose, dattebayo! ^^
