After years of being a member of this site and never writing any stories, I thought I'd try writing a brief one-shot. I've had this idea for some time; I'm not sure where it came from.

I'm very insecure about my writing, so please don't give too harsh reviews. Also, I'm not entirely sure what rating this story constitutes. I'm guessing K+, but I could be wrong. If I am, please let me know.

Disclaimer: I don't own Code Geass (although sometimes, I fantasize about being cast as Lelouch in a live-action film adaptation).

Enjoy!

Sleeping in Class

"Mr. Lamperouge!"

Lelouch was jolted awake by the screeching voice of his math teacher, Mrs. Toledo. Once again, he had managed to fall asleep in class.

It didn't really matter to Lelouch whether or not he stayed awake in math class. He had nothing against math; unlike P.E., which he went so far as to skip entirely. However, with all the work involving the Black Knights, and taking care of Nunnally, Lelouch just wasn't able to stay awake in class. Besides, he already knew everything there was to know about math.

Mrs. Toledo, however, didn't know any of that and, quite frankly, didn't care. She was furious that one of her students kept falling asleep during her class, and she had had enough.

It was then that Mrs. Toledo had an idea. She just so happened to be teaching the class about permutations that day, which one might say is pretty difficult math. This would give her the perfect opportunity to put Lelouch on the spot and leave him totally humiliated. But, she didn't realize just how smart he really was.

"Perhaps you can answer the question?" said Mrs. Toledo. This'll teach you to fall asleep in my class, she thought, wickedly.

"Of course," said Lelouch, standing up. "Would you mind repeating the question?"

He had already figured out what she was planning, and he was not about to let himself be humiliated by one of his teachers, especially not this one. Mrs. Toledo was infamous at Ashford Academy. She was known for rushing through the material, as if she expected her students to already know it. And, whenever someone asked her to explain something, she replied with a sarcastic remark. This was yet another reason why Lelouch didn't care if he fell asleep in this particular class.

Maybe it's time someone put you in your place, Lelouch thought.

"Not at all," Mrs. Toledo responded in a faux cheerful voice. "How many permutations of 3 different cards are there, chosen from 29 sets of cards?"

After several seconds of letting his brain fully absorb the question, and several more seconds of careful calculation, Lelouch gave his answer.

"Sixty-Eight Trillion Six Hundred and Thirty-Billion Three Hundred and Seventy-Seven Million Three Hundred and Sixty-Four Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty-Three."

Lelouch classmates, especially Shirley, were amazed at his ability to figure out that problem in his head.

"That's correct," Mrs. Toledo said through gritted teeth.

But, Lelouch wasn't finished 'putting her in her place' yet. He then leaned forward, with a smug look on his face, and said, "Can I go back to sleep now?"

At that moment, the rest of the class burst into laughter.

So, what do you think?

I'm not a natural-born writer. (My brother is, though.)

By the way, yes, I took the math problem from Negima.

Also, in case anyone's interested, Mrs. Toledo is based on a professor I had awhile back.

Please review, I'd love to hear from you.
