The skies were dark, overcast and angry as heavy rain pelted against the glass of the library I was currently situated in. Ignoring the book I was once reading to watch the weather instead, taking my primary interest as the only sounds being the rain and my breathing. Even for a library it was unusually quiet, myself being the only soul in the spacious room. It was rather eerie, but I was more than thankful for the peace and quiet for a change. The expectations of this place were unbelievable. If I wasn't being badgered by the teachers, then it was the other orphans asking stupid questions. Yes orphans. I am currently residing in Wammy's house for the gifted. Ha, yeah right. Gifted. Other than myself the most gifted child here is one who can push his finger surprisingly far up his nose. The kids are smart for their ages, I can not deny that much, but to call them gifted is more than an over exaggeration.
The door creaked open, the sudden new sound jarring my small body into a jump upon hearing. I quickly turned my gaze to scowl at the intruder of my alone time, watching warily as a boy poked his head around the door. He looked to be around 8 - 9 years old, not much older than myself. I had never seen this boy before, must be new. He met my gaze and I had to admit I was surprised; his eyes were red. How curious and unusual... The boy stepped further into the room before pressing his thumb to his lip, examining me as I turned in my window seat mimicking him. Shaggy black hair, pale grayish skin and loose fitting clothes. He also seemed to have a natural hunch. I screwed my nose up lightly. Save from his eyes this boy was-
"Boring..."
I blinked once, twice; before realising those weren't my thoughts.
"Excuse me?"
He lowered his thumb from his mouth before stuffing the appendages into his pockets.
"Your appearance is boring."
I turned father in my seat to fully face this newcomer who had so openly insulted me with a small smile gracing my face. Well, I suppose he had more than one interesting feature about him.
"I could say the same about you. After all you have such a poor attempt in clothing for one."
The corners of his lips turned up in a very small smile, almost unnoticeable. The first emotion I have seen cross his face upon his entering. But who was this stranger?
"You're new."
"That seems to be an obvious statement. You were the first one to come to this orphanage, correct?"
I screwed my nose up again, he wasn't like the other children here. He did research.
"I was."
He nodded before shuffling a few steps closer to me;
"I am B."
"A."
