I've had this idea brewing for a little while now. I've been intimidated by it's sheer size, but I have made the decision to begin.
This will be a retelling of the Harry Potter series completely faithful to the books, except told from the other side. I begin with a prologue to gauge reaction and will then move on to telling Lord Voldemort's story in full, from the point of James and Lilly's murder, to his own death. It is true that I am the greatest and most powerful wizard whoever lived on this pitiful world. No man can challenge me, only fools attempt to do so, and I laugh all the harder as I kill them.
I am however, a busy man. There is much to be done reversing the mess my kind have made. Allowing muggles to mix with their superiors has diluted our pure blood and enabled a culture of tolerance amongst my peers. It is my duty to remedy this. By doing so, I will go some way to cleansing the filth that courses through my own veins. I am ashamed of my heritage.
But no matter. Death, is the ultimate mortal trait. Once I have illuminated this from myself entirely, I will be pure; It will be of no consequence which blood infects my system as I will have no need of it. I will be apogee. I will be a god.
I am informed of a prophecy. An infant has been born with the power to end me. That might be true had I not concealed parts of my soul to shield them. Nevertheless, the simple solution is to remove the threat at source. There is no sense in waiting for the child to grow and make his attempt; A distraction, however trivial, is the last thing I need. Kill the child now to avoid a marginally larger inconvenience later. I did not get where I am today with procrastination.
