This was a challenge given to me by Victoria Levi
The challenge was:
*To use a Gaara and Hinata pairing
*To write within a 20 minute time limit
*And be inspired by the song 'Forgiven' by the band Within Temptation
(Oh man was this difficult! I kinda went a bit emo on this...sorry! ;P)

A lone figure standing on a sand dune.
The sun sets on the horizon, turning the world a collage of pinks, reds and oranges.
The wind tosses sand grains carelessly across the sky.
The figure blinks. Squints. Tears form and run down her cheeks.
She rubs her eyes, the sand grating at her skin.
A tissue is pulled out, carefully wipes away the pain.
Cheeks burning red from the stinging remains.
Footsteps.
The fragile silhouette stays still, staring at the sun.
Warm breath on the back of her neck. Soft lips caressing her throat.
Arms wrapped around her waist.
Her eyes close, bliss.
His chin rests on her shoulder as they stand as one, looking out across the desert.
His home, her prison.
He can't leave, they need him.
She can't leave, she needs him.
She can't stay, she doesn't belong.
She can't leave, he needs her.
They sit, side by side, hand in hand.
He takes in the lines on her face, sees her tears.
He lifts a hand to brush them away.
He stops.
More tears flow, a river down her cheeks.
Erase her pain.
Chase your demons away.
Make it better.
Make it good.
Hands clenching.
She winces, his strength is immeasurable.
But not enough.
Short, ragged breaths.
A sniffle.
He smiles at her.
There is beauty in sadness.
Something his grandmother had told him.
Fingers through her hair, his face buried in her neck.
Her strength is immeasurable.
But not enough.
He pulls away, stands up.
Looks at the reaming slivers of sunlight, the sky a dark grey.
The end of a day.
So much more than just a day.
Kneels down, a brief meeting of lips.
A deeper kiss.
An embrace.
He stands and turns away.
Footsteps.
Ragged breaths, tears streaming.
A lone figure sits on a sand dune.
The sun disappears.
The wind tosses sand grains carelessly across the sky.
