People describe dogs as so many different things.
Some, as their best friend;
another would think of it as a mutt.
But you were so much more,
a companion who knew when I felt blue.
You had the cutest face when you begged for food,
you knew how to work those brown eyes for your own benefit!
I can't believe I just saw you this morning,
smiling at us and jumping about.
Now you're gone,
never to hear or see again.
It was for the best, yes, but it hurts all the same.
I might find myself calling your name,
but you ain't comin' back home.
Not anymore.
But I just wanted to tell you a few things.
Despite all the hard times you gave us,
we love you.
A best friend, companion, comrade, and hell a good listener!
I wish you didn't have to go,
but it's a part of life I know.
One day we'll meet again,
and we'll play fetch at Heaven's Gates.
I'll be a-coming when my time comes,
but until then..
Play with God's Angels,
they'll entertain you 'till I get there.
You'll get all the steak and doggie treats you want,
and play 'till you drop.
I'm just sorry it had to end so soon.
See you later-'cause this isn't goodbye.
It's only a temporary separation.
