As JJ knocked on her best friends condo door for the third time she gave up trying to get the brunette to open up pulling the key out of her bag she unlocked the door, before placing the key back in her bag before walking towards the brunettes room, knocking lightly on the closed door.
"Go away" came Emily's raspy voice
"Em I am not going anywhere until you talk to me" said JJ as she leant against the wall next to the door waiting for the brunette's reply
"I don't want to talk; if I wanted to talk I would have gone to work or rung someone. Just leave me alone" Emily almost yelled her voice breaking
"Come on Em, Everyone is worried about you" said JJ letting emotion fill her voice, as she opened the door walking over to the king size bed and sitting on the edge watching the brunette berry her face into her pillow
"Just go away" said Emily again as she pulled a photo closer to her body
"Come on Em, talk to me" said JJ as she placed a hand on Emily's right shoulder, Emily just shook her head as she moved her body further away from the blonde
"Em, what was with the last case, I know that it was your friend that died but you said you hadn't spoken to him for years" said JJ as she sighed looking at her friend that was usually so strong laying in her bed and isolating herself from everyone
"Yes Mathew was my friend, just leave it at that" said Emily as she pulled her blanket over her body
"Emily, I am not going to leave it at that, you are my best friend: and you are obviously hurting talk to me" JJ said as she placed her hand on Emily's head running her fingers through her friend's hair
"I was fifteen when I meet Mathew and John, It was hard making friends when my mother was constantly moving around, I made a dumb mistake and Mathew helped me out, he literarily saved my life and doing that I destroyed his" said Emily as she rolled over letting JJ see her face for the first time In a week
"Emily what was your mistake?" said JJ as she wiped the tears that trailed down Emily's face
"I got pregnant with John's child, Mathew found me a doctor and when that happened he started questioning everything and started doing drugs" Emily said as she leant into JJ's touch
"Emily that isn't your fault, if you hadn't done what you did back then what do you think you would be doing now?" said JJ as she pulled Emily to sit in her lap as Emily leant her head into JJ's neck letting herself relax finally
"Probably be some random going now where job" said Emily, JJ nodded lightly as she ran her fingers again through Emily's hair
"It would have been better for both of you this way, I know that you probably feel bad for it even after all these years because that is who you are but that doesn't mean that you have to give up your life" said JJ as Emily nodded
"Thanks JJ, I really needed to get it out" Emily said as she smiled lightly
"No problems, how about I go get us some take away and you have a shower?" said JJ as she kissed Emily lightly on the temple
"Okay, then girls night in" said Emily lightly laughing
"Deal" said JJ as she pulled Emily up to her feet and pushed her towards the bathroom door laughing as the brunette let her push her. Even though these two had come from different pasts one a lonely teenager who was always being moved around and the other a popular soccer girl with a stable family they both had the same ambition and that was to help as many people as they could.
