Melody of the Heart: Prologue

They say I was insane but I beg to differ. So what if I speak of hearing voices no one other than myself can hear? It's the truth! There really are many voices surrounding them. It is not my fault they can't hear it.

A little girl stared at the huge school in front of her view blankly, her hand gripping tightly to her beloved violin case. Her parents told her that this would be her school and that she was going to stay there until she finished her studies. She wondered why she needed to transfer in the first place.

She never liked new school, especially introductions. However, she would never say that to her parents. She was taught to be obedient and that she would be.

Mom, Dad! Why do you guys look at me with those eyes? I'm not insane! ...I'm not.

The girl shook her heads at the voices she was hearing. It was hers. That she knew very well but it wasn't supposed to be heard in her ears. Those voices were in the past already. They weren't meant to be there.

She knew she was not insane.

Please don't hate me! I'll ignore those voices and act properly from now on! Please, just please...don't come to hate me, Mom, Dad. I'm still a Liddell, your youngest daughter...

She was a Liddell yet she was not. She had different figure than her parents and she didn't get any genes from her parents like her older sister. She had dark blonde hair and deep ocean green eyes while her parents had golden blonde and light blue eyes.

She remembered asking if she was really their child which they wholeheartedly agreed on at that time and they still agreed on her being their child after years.

Or so that was what Alice always told to herself.

Mom, Dad, don't hate me. Don't leave me...please.

The little blonde couldn't forget the coldness in those blue eyes that was staring at her—no, looking through her as if she didn't even exist. It hurt her hard at the realization that her parents had grown to hate her.

But it didn't matter anymore.

This time, they were now proud of her power. This was the time for all those with supernatural powers to shine like hers. This time, the whole world had found out about the individuals with powers out of this world.

This time, people like her would be treated as equal. They wouldn't be considered insane, abnormal, different like before long.

Are you sure about? In this world, we're insane, all of us! Don't forget it!

Alice flinched slightly at that voice. It was neither hers nor her past self's voice. It was different, someone else and that someone was unknown to her.

This was her ability—skills, power, blessing, or whatever people called them. She could hear voices of the past or present, hers or someone else's, familiar or unfamiliar. She could her them all to the point she could not identify which was real or not.

Mostly, this power let her hear a music coming from other people when they weren't even playing any instrument or even opening their mouth. She wondered if she's the only one with this kind of ability.

Alice closed her eyes and let out a tone she knew as the gate to the Magic Academy for the Super-powered Individuals opened.

My name is Alice. Please take care of me from now on!

Welcome to Magic Academy for Super-powered Individuals!

A mysterious man sat on the principal's chair and smirked dangerously as he read the papers in his hands. A small raven slightly took a position on his shoulder.

"It's beginning, isn't it?" he asked no one in particular and his smirk widened. "And the main character is also coming as well."

"But I wonder if any of them remember their past?"

The man closed his eyes, frowning as the raven angrily pecked his head. "Now, now," he opened them again and captured the dark bird. "Don't be mad, White. I won't try anything to your beloved."

If a bird could glare, he knew the animal was doing just that. But it couldn't so it settled with growling in anger instead.

The man slipped another of one of his dangerous smirks. "But that doesn't mean I won't interfere in their lives," he stated humorously. "They're in my realm after all."

The raven let out a howl of warning at that which the human easily ignored. The man looked at the first two profiles in his hands.

"Say, what do you think will happen if the Twins of Disaster meet each other?"

A playful grin came to his face.

"Will it stop the cycle? Or will it make it worse?"

Alice sighed in relief. She had just finished introducing herself in front of everyone and she was glad she didn't mess or acted like a stuttering girl in front of her classmate.

She glanced her surrounding and felt so out of place. The teacher had told them to get to know each other so the other students were showing off all their abilities and she couldn't do the same. Her only powers were to hear voices so she didn't know how to show it.

"Hey!" a dark brunet suddenly came out of nowhere and the little girl couldn't help but jump out of the way and look fearful of the boy. He put his hands up in the air. "Woah! Sorry to startle you..."

Scaredy-cat! And wait! Didn't this happen before?

Alice wisely ignored the voice and looked curiously when the unknown brunet closed his eyes as if he was thinking.

"Alice, right?" he smiled pleasantly and let out a hand to shake. "My name is Ace. Nice to meet you!"

"Nice to meet you, too!" Alice blunted out, not shaking the hand and then quickly bowed her head in embarrassment. "Erm...do you need something from me?"

Ace blinked at the question before chuckling. "Naah, just wanting to be friends," he smiled pleasantly and stared at the surprised eyes of the blonde. "What do you say? Want to be friends?"

Alice couldn't believe. Someone was asking to be her friend! She never had one since people never liked her powers but now, she was going to have her first friend.

Who will want to be friends with you? Don't be naive!

She shook her head at the voice and smiled brightly at Ace who was still looking at her curiously. "Sure, I would like to be friends with you, Ace!" she said happily, making the brunet smile wider.

"Haha, you sure are funny, Alice!" Ace put a hand on the girl's shoulder and leaned closely. "Say, do you have a twin or brother?"

"No," Alice shook her head, half wondering if it's normal for friends to do what the other was doing. "Why do you ask?"

Ace seemed shocked for a minute before he pointed at one direction.

"Well, you look like him."

No! Not him, anyone but him! Please! I don't want to meet him!

Alice flinched at the loud sound in her head and she turned around to look at where her new friend was point, hearing a tone that sounded nostalgic—sad even.

At the same moment, a male blonde looked at her direction.

Two pairs of ocean green eyes clashed each other and Alice found herself staring at a mirror reflection of herself with shorter hair.

She felt something stir on her heart. She didn't notice her surroundings anymore and she didn't understand. Her voice just moved by itself and the voice in her head felt as if her own. Together as if she also knew what's going on, she said a name.

"Malice?"

A red-haired man glared at the bright sun. "Fuck, I feel like shit," he said, massaging his head and letting his hand trail his hair. He then put on hand on his left eyes and opened his right eye.

His red eye trailed his surroundings and stopped at a black eye patch. He put it to his left eye and stood up from his bed.

"So you're finally awake, Black," a voice said from nowhere and the male just glared at the small raven that was innocently flying on the air.

"Shut up, White," he muttered irritated. "Let me have fun with this body. You had your turn last month."

"Yes, yes," the bird landed on his shoulders. "You felt it, too, right? They met..."

"Yeah, so what?" Black shrugged his shoulders. "It ain't my problem."

"Are you sure about that? Are you sure you won't interfere when she gets into trouble because of him? Are you sure you won't care about what happens to her?"

No answer.

Once upon a time, a young god fell in love with a woman who loved another mortal. He had tried going against Faith because of this but it didn't end good in his part.

He was kicked out of heaven and he was sent to live in the mortal world as a pleasant. Even though, he was in the world where he could meet his beloved he never tried to do it.

He was too ashamed to introduce himself as a pleasant to the woman who he loved. The woman was far too perfect for the poor.

But then, as if the Heaven Father was blessing him and approving of his relation, the young god met the woman and had found out she didn't care if someone was poor or not. She treated them equally.

This made him fall even more for the woman but even then, she still loved another. Though, it was enough for the god to just be together with her.

He was willing to just wait and watch it.

But he could never knew that this love, if fulfilled, will cause a disaster to the three worlds—Heaven, Earth and Hell.
