Remus had just watched as Tonks was hit by the killing curse. He felt his heart rip apart. He couldn't believe that she was now dead. He had sworn that he wouldn't let her die.

Remus finished off the Death Eater that he was battling and started running towards where his wife lay. He dodged curses and hexes along the way.

He made it without being hurt. He lifted her up and held her in his arms. Tears streamed down his face as he realized that she was gone forever.

"I'm sorry, my love. I let you down. I love you so much." He whispered in her ear though he knew that she wouldn't hear him. He kissed her forehead and held her lifeless body to his chest.

"Remus!" Someone shouted. He spun around, but it was too late. He saw the killing curse flying at him. Before he had time to react, he saw a flash of green and then his whole world went dark.
