The door opened with a loud bang, but the bearded Professor took little notice. Albus Dumbledore merely gave the intruder a formal acknowledgment- he simply nodded and smiled at her. "Good evening, Miss Granger." Hermione stood in front of his desk, hair frazzled and clothes crumpled, holding a box of pins with two hands.

"Professor, I understand that you're busy-"

"I am not. Therefore, you may go on." Albus nodded mildly, setting his book down on his desk.

"But Professor, I would like to invite you to join my organization. It's called S.P.E.W. which stands for Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare."

"Creative name, Hermione. Wonderful!" The olden professor clapped his hands together in enthusiasm.

"Thank you, Professor." Hermione answered, blushing slightly. "Would you like to join?"

"I'd be delighted to join, my dear. I'm assuming there is a fee for that badge like yours?" Albus pointed towards Hermione's chest, where a light purple S.P.E.W. badge rested.

"Oh, no! You don't need to pay the two Sickle fee for the badge, Professor." Hermione frantically shook her head, retrieving a gleaming new badge for her Headmaster.

"No, Miss Granger. I insist." The headmaster then pulled out two silver Sickles from his deep raven coin pouch.

"Alright, then.. Thank you."

"Tell me more about this 'S.P.E.W.'"

"I have seen injustice and mistreatment of the house elves far too many times, Professor. I can't stand it! I have to stand up to their rights! They should be paid for their hard work, and holidays! They should have days off to spend with their families! They should be treated like humans! They have feelings too, Professor. They are ordered to do tasks against their will, Professor. That is slavery, and slavery should not be tolerated!" Hermione talked animatedly with her hands flying up in the air.

"The poor house elves cannot speak for themselves, Professor. I've created this organization so they could have a voice! We will fight for their rights! The house elves should have equal rights as wizards and witches! They should be treated fairly, and paid for their work!"

"Will you, Professor Dumbledore, sign this petition to 'Stop the Outrageous Abuse of Our Fellow Magical Creatures and Campaign for a Change in Their Legal Status?'

"First of all, Hermione, house elves like what they do. There are a few like Dobby, but most of the elf population think otherwise. They adore working for their masters- it makes them happy. They won't like holidays because it means that they have to go away from work, which makes them happy as I've said earlier. They were born to work, my dear." Dumbledore sighed, setting his spectacles down and leaning back on his chair.

"But Professor!-"

"However," The Headmaster cut her off, "I think it was very considerate of you to think of the house elves. Yes, they are mistreated and it is only right for you to stand up for their rights. This is not a lost cause, Hermione. I am a believer that this will go for a long run." Albus smiled at her, his eyes twinkling.

"You have a bright future ahead of you, Miss Granger." Albus said, signing his name on the parchment of her petition.
