A/N: I'f you've read some of my other stories, you'll find I like to write of grief and hurt a lot, and deaths (read my profile). That's just the way I am.

Her Fatal Flaw

The girl stared blankly at the faintly beeping monitor that was suspended over the prone form of her ex-boyfriend. The plastic hospital chair was uncomfortable and she had been sitting there for hours, but she had no intention of leaving.

She remembered the pain and shock when the boy's mother had phoned her about his accident. She had taken the first available plane back. She recalled what had made her leave.

"So you're dumping me?"

"Yes," she replied, hating herself. But she had to do this, for her mother to finally approve of her.

It had turned into an argument, and she had stormed out of the apartment. Later, she learned he had crashed going after her, trying to get her to return.

Now she was waiting, as was everyone else.

Waiting.

Even with her ADHD, she wasn't a particularly impatient person, but this drove her crazy. "Do something!" she wanted to yell.

Two days later, they decided to pull the plug on the life-sustaining machine. The girl had lost control, screaming at his mother, his step-father, his best friends, accusing them of murder. No matter how many times they explained that he was just a shell, that he was dead inside, she refused to calm down and believe them. It was just too painful.

But who was she to argue?

Then came the funeral.

She was not the only one crying. Even the hot-headed daughter of Ares had tears on her face. She made a mental note to email everyone about that-if she didn't go into eternal mourning first.

The worst was that he had died without saying goodbye. He was probably in Elysium by now (if he wasn't Hades was so dead), thinking she didn't care. But she did. Now, because of her stupidity, he would never know how much she loved him.

Hubris, her flaw. This time it had really been fatal.
