Troy picked up his cell phone, but hesitated and set it back down on his bed. He was well aware they needed to work this out, and he blamed his friends for all that had happened. Gabriella thought the same.

Besides, if he couldn't come out and say how he fealt about her without worrying what his friends were thinking, Troy wasn't the man for her. But she couldn't get the memory of how they first met: on stage singing and being themselves at the ski lodge. They felt comfortable together, and everyone there could see the chemistry, but for some reason now, everyone had shut the door on their relationship.
