So Long Sweet Summer
Note: I do not own these characters. Mark Schwahn does. I just like to write up what I so badly wish could happen on this show, that's all. All characters in this fan fiction belong to Mark. And remember, comments are love. It's a fairly short chapter and there are a lot of unanswered questions, but that's the power of suspense. If I don't get comments, I don't write more. Thanks and enjoy!
Peyton sat alone on her bed, wondering what she could have done differently. Wondering if they had made a huge mistake. Wishing that she could take it all back. She needed her best friend, more then anyone else in the world. The things that had happened weren't planned, they just…happened. Peyton knew there was always something there, but neither admitted it. But they were in college; it's a time of experimentation. Peyton had thought they would just have fun and that would be it, but it turned into much more then that, it turned into something real. Maybe that scared Brooke. But all Peyton wanted was to have her best friend laying beside her so they could talk about this.
Brooke had no idea where she was going or what she was doing, she was just driving, tears forming in her eyes. How did this happen? How did she end up alone…driving in her car, when a couple days ago she was with her best friend and they were perfect? In fact, Brooke had never felt so loved and so comfortable before. So why was she running away from 'perfect'? As she continued to drive, her hands gripped tightly on the steering wheel, she seen it all…
"Brooke, you're my best friend! Do you really think us experimenting with each other is a good idea?" Peyton asked, smiling widely at her best friend as she sat down beside Brooke on her bed. They were in college, but doing the experimenting together? That scared Peyton a bit and she wasn't sure why.
"P. Sawyer, stop thinking so hard about it. We're in college, and I know I would rather do that with you then some random girl! Come on, it's not like we haven't kissed before. And don't pretend like you haven't thought about it before." Brooke giggled and lightly hit her best friends arm. Okay well, Brooke had thought about it before, maybe a few too many times.
"Let's just see where everything takes us, okay Brooke?" Peyton said, a small smile creeping onto her face because she knew where that would lead. There had always been an undeniable chemistry there between them and they were in college, so why not test it out?
Brooke's mind stopped when she had to slam on her breaks. She had almost collided with the car in front of her because her mind was thinking about something else…or…someone else. Brooke knew that she had to do, it all made sense to her now. She loved her best friend…and sure, she was scared of their feelings for each other, but she couldn't just let Peyton slip away like that. So without another thought, she turned around and drove back to Peyton.
