Author's Note: It's been a LONG time since I've posted a J/B fic *shifty eyes*. My J/B muse has been kind of AWOL of late, so forgive me if this is not up to my usual standard...I was listening to one of my all-time favourite groups (Lighthouse Family), and their song Lost in Space just made me think of J/B and inspired this little ficlet. I know it's short, but I hope you enjoy it anyway and I would LOVE to hear your thoughts on it!!!

By the way, my Quil/Claire story, The Sound of Heaven got an honourable mention in the Fictionator's Blog for the When Love Was New Contest. The link to their write-ups and my pretty banner are on my profile.

Also, don't forget to go and vote for A Golden Hearted Rose in the Best One-Shot category in the Silent Tear Awards. The link is on my profile.

Finally, I have started writing an Alice/Jasper short fic called Down the Rabbit Hole and would LOVE to hear your thoughts on it. The first chapter is up on my profile.

Disclaimer: I don't own Twilight or the line from the song Lost in Space that I quoted in this story.

Lost in Space

If it was possible for gravity to move slowly, then Bella would think that she had imprinted on Jacob Black. Not in the sense that she felt compelled to love him. She knew enough about that sort of emotion and thankfully she had never experienced it with Jacob. No, it was more in the sense that he moored her, like…..like an anchor really. Solid, steady, plunging into the earth beneath her and holding her firmly in place, stilling her aimless drifting.

Lately she had started to think of Jacob, not only as her anchor, but as her sun, and this was true on so many levels. Initially, it was because he was just, well, so sunny. He perpetually smiled and his eyes would literally light up whenever he saw her, and he was so warm, inside and outside. He simply gave off a bright, happy aura and being with him was like basking outside on a pleasant summer's day; she could feel the coldness around her heart start to thaw and melt and the life and movement come back to her limbs. A lazy contentment would flood her from the tips of her fingers to the core of her being, and if she was a cat, she would have purred and stretched and stayed there all day. Except for the fact that he was a dog of course…..She grinned to herself at the rather ironic analogy.

But now she realised that the image of a sun suited Jacob on another, deeper level, because he anchored her not just in the earth, but in the universe. He was her sole satellite and she would be lost in space without him. Slowly, slowly, planet Bella was beginning to revolve around the sun that was Jacob Black, drawn irresistibly to his warmth, to his centred her, he lighted her way, he guided her through the endless darkness that had been her life for the past few months. He was her gravity.
