Hey everyone. This story was written for both the Holmes Mystery Challenge and Fortnightly Challenge Thread's Snape Appreciation. My prompt for the Holmes Mystery Challenge was the song How You Remind Me by Nickleback. The prompt I used from Snape Appreciation Challenge was Shelf 2 8. Strengthening Solution - write about someone weak. I hope you all enjoy How You Remind Me of What I Really Am?.

The look they all turned on me when I revealed my true form to the room was not the one I was expecting. Sirius and Remus should know that I was only trying to help. It was then that the voice that had spoken last registered in my ears. He was dead. Sirius had said that James was dead and yet here he stood in the very room we were all in.

"My dad wouldn't want his friends to be murderers," came the familiar voice.

It wasn't James. It was the boy. James and Lily's boy, Harry. The boy hadn't died. I hadn't killed them all. I turned towards the boy falling to my knees as though to beg for my life. Which I would willing do. He had to understand what Sirius and Remus refused to.

"He's responsible for your being an orphan Harry," I heard the boy whose pet I had pretended to be for years. "It's what he deserves."

In those few words that were spoken I was reminded of not only what my friends thought of me but also of the people I had once called family. I watched Ron's look of disgust as the boy turned his wand away Severus Snape's unconscious from. Maybe I'd try to get the girl on my side. The girl was after all the smartest witch in her year.

"Sweet girl," I called out desperately to the young witch, "I was a good rat wasn't I?"

The girl didn't turn out to of any help to me either. She only sided with the others and helped to keep me trapped there. Then a thought hit me as though out of no where. It should be the night of the full moon. I let a small smile slide onto my face as I was lead out of the Whomping Willow. All I needed now was for the clouds to uncover the moon and my plan would go into motion.

I bide my time listening to the conversations going around me. As though they were not dragging me back to the castle to hand me over to the Dementors. As though they weren't casting me into Azkaban or worse. I watched as Sirius lead the boy, Harry, a little way away from the group. I watched as the two of them talked and was glad to see they didn't suspect my plan.

A howl ripped through the air as we all looked towards the horrific transformation that was going on. I was used to seeing this from when I went to school with Remus and it was what I had been waiting for. I raced away from the group trying to get Rums to remember who he was. Turning towards them I waved as I turned into a rat and ran off into the night.

"Are we having fun yet?" I thought to myself as I ran away from the place I had once considered home.

I hope you all enjoyed How You Remind Me of What I Really Am?.
