Their God
By Catty-the-spy and Mirror
He is their god, their sheltered place, though he doesn't want to be. He is a fair god, and a sad god, and so his people love him.
Then you came, speaking blasphemy against him, and he set you free when his people might have killed you, giving you mercy when you deserved none.
His wings were wide and warm, as if his body tried to make up for the wounds to his heart. Those black feathers could heal even the deadliest of diseases, give breath to a stillborn babe. And he loved them, in his own way, even though he admitted it not even to himself.
He is their god, their one and only. He is their rock and sheltered place. He left them to seek you, to protect them from you, to save them from your hatred. Two of his most loving followers followed him in secret, and saw how you despised him, and saw how much he suffered for their sakes in an effort to save them from you. When the killing blow fell, they blocked him from it, though it nearly cost them their lives. You hated him even more, but they would have none of it, and begged and pleaded him come away, and home.
He is their god, their saviour. He is their rock, their light, and all who believe are blessed with a joy no one else will ever know. You came to take him from them, and though he tried to stop it, they fought you. They fought you though they knew they would die. The fought because they loved him, though you wouldn't see it. And as he set eyes on his felled children, brutally murdered, he went to fight you himself, filled with a fury none had seen before.
A light shone from the obsidian depths of his eyes, his black hair whipped, and his nose reminded one of a hawk, or a falcon, or an eagle even, though you had once mocked him for it. His black wings spread wide, and all the warmth was gone from them.
He raised his hand and looked at you, angry and sorrowful and determined all at once.
"I am sorry, Potter, but you have gone too far."
Your face morphed, and his people knew that a demon had come, that they were witnessing a battle to end all battles.
'You've betrayed me" you hissed. "I cared for you. Was I not good enough? Did I not fuck you hard enough? I gave you so much you screamed. I pounded into you so hard you couldn't move! Was this not enough for you?!"
Foreign words to his people, but he understood them and wept. "I loved you, and you only, but they needed me."
"I NEEDED YOU!"
You charged, faced morphed into a monstrous vision, looked less human than ever.
Their god stood, weeping, and his mouth opened to whisper two words that would save them all and send the last blow to his already fragile heart.
'Avada Kadavra.'
