She leaned closer to him, her breath mingling with his as she progressed. Her sea blue eyes searched his midnight orbs. He studied her, visibly unsure of her plan. His dark brown, unruly bangs hung over his eyes, hiding his expression from anyone, but her. Only she was close enough to see him. Only she would ever be.
"Don't," he protested as her lips tickled his.
His lids were heavy on his eyes, urging him to give in to the desire.
"Why not?" Relena gave a crooked, mischievous grin as she whispered.
"Because."
"Not good enough, Yuy."
"Because," he said, again, pushing her gently away from him. "I shouldn't kiss you."
She looked slightly offended. "Why?"
"Kissing—gives people ideas." He looked down, away from her. His rough edge gave her a sense of rejection, more than shyness.
She raised an eyebrow, incredulously. "Like?"
"Like thoughts, Relena. Thoughts people should have about you. I shouldn't have about you. And urges. That are—inappropriate." When he glanced back at her, he looked angry, embittered by her persistence.
Relena hung her head, her golden locks obscuring her face. Heero waited for a rebuttal, but none came. When he looked, she appeared to be trembling, the way she would when she cried.
He straightened his back, apologetic that he'd offended her. "Relena," he said softly, approaching to comfort her.
The trembling grew stronger, more apparent, until she finally looked up at him—laughing. "Heero," she giggled. "That's what you're worried about?"
He stumbled to a stop, startled at her response. He quickly turned his back on her, to regain his composure. "I told you. It's inappropriate."
"What? No, Heero. It's not inappropriate. It's natural."
He let out a frustrated sigh, unwilling to give up the battle.
"Heero."
He looked back at her from the corner of his eye.
"Alright. Hear me out. We are not unlike animals, in that we have a natural need to reproduce. Right?"
"But—"
She put up his hand, signaling that she was not done speaking. "We are a species that, for the most part, seeks out one life-mate."
"But Relena—"
She cut him off, again. "So when we find another person we find attractive, it is perfectly normal—and in no way wrong—to get certain ideas. After all, all the other animals get ideas."
He looked away, again, shifting uncomfortably. "I'm not—"
"But," she said, over him, ending his argument, again. "When a male of our species gets ideas about a female, he does certain things that are unique to humans. He buys her flowers and chocolates, and takes her to dinner. All in an attempt to figure out if she is the life-mate he wants."
Heero growled under his breath.
"I'm not saying you have to do those things for me, Heero Yuy. I'm just saying that the ideas you get, kissing me, are normal. And not to worry about them."
He said nothing.
Finally, she walked back up to him, touching his arm gently. He accepted the signal turning around, to look at her.
Relena smiled at him. "I will say, however, that I like it when you kiss me."
Without hesitation, she pressed her lips against his. Heero accepted, allowing her soft tongue access, coaching him through a deeper kiss than before. Relena moaned in her throat, before pulling away.
When he looked at her, again, she was smiling up at him. Her eyes sparkled.
"It gives me ideas." Relena winked and walked away.
Heero flushed up to his ears.
