This is fluffy. Really, really fluffy. Like, the fluffiest thing I've ever done. I am not responsible for any cavities or comas you may experience.
Krolia did not want to have a Kit. They were in the middle of a war, for Quiznack's sake! She expected to stay single until the war against Zarkon was won, if she even lived that long. But she truly loved the man who'd rescued her, though she had a few reservations about the Kit.
The day came when their child would be born. Because of their circumstances, Krolia couldn't go to regular doctor's appointments. The pain was intense, especially without any type of painkillers, and Krolia started muttering Galran swear words and curses against a child she didn't really want. Fortunately, she wasn't in labor for an extreme amount of time, and soon she was holding her newborn Kit in her arms.
In a flash, every curse, reservation, fear, and anxiety about her baby dissipated. Her Kit was perfect, taking after his father. To an outsider, the Kit looked 100% human, though Krolia knew fiercely who he was. And through him, She knew herself.
"Today's a day like any other, but I am changed I am a mother in a instant!" Krolia crooned to her son, tears of joy pooling in her yellow eyes. "And who I was has disappeared, it doesn't matter, now you're here, so innocent." The Kit mewled, and Krolia stroked his face gently. "I was lost for you to find, and now I'm yours and you are mine."
In the few following weeks, Krolia saw her Kit flourish. His eyes were a brilliant violet, and his hair was the same texture as her fur. Every night, she sat with him, singing him to sleep.
"Two tiny hands, a pair of eyes, an unsung melody is mine for safekeeping." She glanced at her Blade, then fixed her eyes back on her precious Kit. "And I will guard it with my life! I'd hang a moon for it to shine on him sleeping. Starting here, and starting now I can feel the heart of how everything changes."
Krolia thought back to her mission, and how important it had seemed to her before her Kit. She'd cursed the lucky shot that had sent her crashing to earth. "I didn't know, but now I see sometimes what is, is meant to be. You've saved me!" The mother looked down at her child, praising Galran gods that sent the Kit into her life. "My blurry lines, my messy life coming to focus and in time, maybe I can heal and I can breathe 'cause I can feel myself believe
Everything changes."
She had wanted to name her Kit Yorak, a Galran word meaning Precious Treasure, but her mate disagreed. It made no difference. Krolia knew her Kit was precious, and vowed to keep him close to her heart.
"Everything changes! Oh my heart's at the wheel now. And all my mistakes, they make sense when I turn them around. Everything changes!" She held her Kit close and purred as he clung to her. She thought about the war, and her fellow blades. "What I thought was so permanent fades. And I swear I'll remember to say we were both born that day!"
Krolia hugged her sleeping Kit closer, and leaned against her mate. "Oh and it's true, what did I do to deserve you, Keith?"
