Sam Winchester used to have family.

Dean and Adam Winchester used to have a younger brother.

John Winchester used to have a son.

But that was back in the day when Sam Winchester wasn't a murderer, cheat and betrayer. When he was loved and adored, when he looked up to his older brother with worship- and they catered to his every need. Before he killed their mother in cold blood. You wouldn't have though a 4 year old capable of doing such a thing, but Sam proved them all wrong. He just went crazy one day, charged at her with a knife and cut her throat open. When the boys and their father came home to it, there was nothing they could even begin to say to Little Sammy that would explain what they were feeling. No, all they did was take him to the nearest orphanage and leave him with the old lady that ran it. They didn't look bad, not willing to get captured in Sam's puppy dog eyes. The family of now three salted and burned their mother and wife's body the next day and went on the road, back to hunting full time. They never forgot Sam, and they never forgave him...
