The Ghost on the Hill

This one-shot is dedicated to two people for their birthdays they are good friends of mine and slytherines they are Abi and Fahmeda.
Legend proclaimed that once a year on a misty hill in the middle of Scotland a pale figure could be seen. Little was known about this ghost who appears. It was said that the ghost was long mourning a lost lover others though said that it was waiting till its fortunes turned back from despair to happiness once more.
From the top of the hill on the one night a year he could freely wonder this world, the ghost of Salazar Slytherin sat. Cold air left his mouth as he breathed heavily, his ghostly robes billowing out behind him. It was hard to believe that little over a millennium ago he roamed the halls of his newly built school as flesh and blood. Yet here he was an exiled ghost, with one despicable heir Tom Marvlo Riddle or rather Lord Voldemort as he now called himself. Salazar was ashamed to say that his leaving Hogwarts could have been the spark that fueled such hate and furry in the wizarding world.
He wouldn't have started that argument, which was in fact nothing more then whether or not muggleborns should be allowed to return home during their time at the school. His belief that they should not return to the Muggle world if they wished to attend Hogwarts was not based on any prejudice against muggleborns but simply because he felt that they would be safer to stay in wizarding villages where they could talk and practice freely as they would at Hogwarts itself without fear of persecution.
However Salazar had left Hogwarts in a rage after Godric refused to see his point. An overhearing student started spreading gossip about how Salazar Slytherin did in fact hate muggleborns and wanted them out of the castle, according to this student the reason he left was due to the other founders exiling him because of this belief.
Years later Salazar watched from his hill as that rumor was taken as truth in the wizarding world. Godric, Rowena, and, Helga never denied claims of the lies as truth. Leaving Slytherines name along with the name of his house tarnished- ambitious and cunning became pureblood and evil in the eyes of many non-slytherine and new families in the wizarding world. In fact it did not help that his son was a supporter of pureblood supremacy leaving many to abandon any previous beliefs of the true story and side with the lie. Salazar found his name found his name so badly discredited that the truth would no longer mater, so he stopped trying to disprove the lie all together and, now he sat at the top of his hill on a perched on a rotting tree stump, waiting.
For what you may ask, well he was waiting for this vile war to end once and for all. He wished desperately for his heir to perish in the war that had started many years ago, for the Potter boy to succeed, and for the world to once and for all be rid of the self proclaimed Dark Lord.
He knew that once his last blood heir had left this planet he too could leave this world and be free to go on to the next, rejoining his fellow founders and friends in the after-life to watch over there school as it stood through the ages. However until that time should arise he shall sit there on that old rotting stump on the top of a hill waiting as he had for many years.
The ghost of Salazar Slytherine was never recognized during his time on this world as a sprit. Though when voldemort was destroyed, he was greeted back by his friends warmly. His name in the living world however remains tarnished till this day and so it shall remain.
