The rain was falling down heavily on the rooftop, and the little light from the sun was shining through a gap in the ugly brown curtains. Two bodies, a boy and a girl around the age of eighteen, lay together with their legs tangled. The girls head was resting on her boyfriend's chest, and his fingers were tangled up in her hair.
"Morning," the boyfriend told the small redhead who had just woken up.
The girl rubbed her eyes before slowly sitting up to grab her boyfriend's t shirt from the end of the bed and pulled it over her head, smiling. "Hi."
"Do you know how gorgeous you look in the morning?" he ask her as he rolled onto his side.
"Gorgeous? More like monstrous. My hair is a total mess," she laughed.
"Sex hair suits you, Kels," he said, earning a slap in the arm. "What? I'm telling the truth!"
Kelsi shook her head, "Whatever."
The boy laughed. "You've got nothing to say to that, huh? Come on, come back to bed."
"We've got to go out later, remember?" she reminded him.
"What time do you have to be at Gabriella's by?" he asked.
"Two, so we can start getting ready. We're planning to leave for Sharpay's at about quarter past three."
"Alright, well how about I set the alarm for one o'clock and I'll drop you off a block away at one thirty. You'll be there by ten past at the latest. I'm sure she won't mind."
Kelsi nodded and lay back down, resting her head on his shoulder. "You know you can just drop me off at her place. She already knows about us and she's already promised that she won't tell anyone."
"I know, but I don't want to risk anyone finding out. You know what will happen if certain people do. Gabriella has to be the only one to know right now."
"I guess," Kelsi sighed.
The two lay in silence for a moment before her boyfriend spoke again, "Hey, Kels?"
"Yes?"
"I love you," he told her as he took her hand and placed it over his fast-beating heart, before pressing a kiss into her hair.
"I love you too, Chad."
Kelsi Nielson stared off blankly into space thinking about that day; the first time they had both said those three little words that meant the world to them.
"Kels," Gabriella Montez waved her hand in front of Kelsi's face. "Hello Kelsi?"
Gabriella sighed, knowing that she wouldn't get Kelsi's attention any time soon. She knew Kelsi was thinking about Chad. Again. Gabriella knew about their secret relationship, of course she did. She was Kelsi's best friend, and she had been since they were two years old. They told each other everything.
