Chapter 1: Only Human

"He was only human" Thought Hiruzen Sarutobi. That is all the now reinstated Third Hokage could think as he saw his successor's prized seal falling apart.
He knew he should to act like a true Kage and put a swift end to the baby the seal had been placed on, and admittedly, he would have if he did not know the child's parents.
"Naruto Namikaze" Hiruzen mused, "I'm not Hokage yet, little one, so killing you probably is murder, especially since I'm a retired ninja."
Naruto opened his eyes and stared at the old man. "Don't give me that look," Hiruzen said sadly as the door opened. He purposely ignored the intruder fully expecting a council member to be standing there fortunately, he was wrong.
"I thought a ninja was supposed to be aware of his surroundings?" stated the intruder.
"I thought civilians were supposed to be in the shelter" Hiruzen shot back. He turned to the intruder, "and isn't it dangerous to have your daughter with you, Teuchi?"
"What safer place can she be than here with the Third Hokage?" Teuchi said putting his hand on his daughters head. Taking that as his signal she walked forward and put a box she had been hiding behind her back on his desk by the oddly quiet baby, stating "dinner" before rushing back to her father's side.
The Third smiled softly.
"Thank you, Ayame"
"Y-Your welcome."
Hiruzen opened the box not surprised to see a bowl of piping hot ramen inside. The aroma filled the room and got a reaction out of Naruto. The three other occupants of the room watched as the baby made motions toward the ramen as if trying to get it. After failing a few times he began to cry.
"That wouldn't by any chance be Kushina's and Minato's son would it?" asked Teuchi
The Hokage stared at him.
"Blond hair, blue eyes, and an obvious taste for ramen" stated Teuchi recognizing the third's curious stare.
The Third sighed, "Yes he's their son"
"And he's a jinchuriki?" interrupted Teuchi
Once again, the third stared
"You'd be shocked at how loose tongued a Kumo merchant can be about children containing demons when given free ramen." Teuchi said with a shrug.
Hiruzen sighed once more and told the truth, "I don't know."
Now Teuchi stared at him.
"You know, this is probably the most dangerous place any one could be." the Hokage mused, noticing the ramen chef's clueless face he continue.
"Minato's seal is falling apart," the Third Hokage stated simply.

-Within the seal-
Loud roars and the sound of an impossibly large body slamming against metal bars was written off as little more than background noise by the man standing in front of the metal gate the bars were a part of. Even the sound of one of the bars falling and hitting the floor beside him did not even make him twitch. The man's eyes never left the figure before him. The Shinigami himself was before him.
He asked one question of the being surprising him with what he was asking
"Is their anyway to save my son?" The man laughed to himself "to Hell with the village" he mused
The figure could look and tell that this man 'The Fourth Hokage' Minato Namikaze was going to give him indigestion for however long Kami allowed him to keep him if he did not appease him.
"I will do what I can, but your son will never be normal." the being said
The Fourth Hokage bowed his head and said "Thank you"
