"Mmmf..." moaned Alfred quietly as his shaking hand reached for the OFF button. The song that the alarm played made Alfred's heart throb- it was merely God Save The Queen. Yet he could bear no more of it. Whenever he heard it he thought of Arthur.

"Send her-" The alarm stopped as Alfred pushed the button, his face definitely paler than before and a haunted look entered his dull, sleepy eyes. A hamburger lay on his bedside table, untouched.

His face burned bright red as Canada entered the room, carrying his polar bear. He looked up at him, not even a fraction of the hero in him as he stared blankly at his brother.

"A-America?" stammered Canada uncertainly, his nervous face illuminated by the light from the curtains. Alfred looked more intensely at Canada's face, trying not to snap.

"N-no..." Alfred pushed his face into the pillow, hiding the tears streaming down his face. "I'm n-not okay, C-Canada."

"Why?" Canada asked innocently, clearly worried.

"A-Arthur. He..."

"He what?"

"Matthew...he left me." Alfred moaned hopelessly, his voice muffled by the pillow. He felt Matthew's sorrowful gaze upon him.

"I'm sorry..." Matthew breathed, passing him the hamburger tentatively. "Eat."

As Matthew moved to open the curtains,Alfred lifted his tear stained face.

"I can't bring myself to eat." he murmured as the light streamed into the room.

Matthew turned around, his mouth agape. "Alfred, you love hamburgers."

Alfred nodded slowly. "But not as much as I loved Arthur."
