5 Years old:
A small Tuffnut marched angrily out of his house covered in bruises with his weapon and marched up to the training area with the other children.
Hiccup looked at him confused as he ignored everyone and began training angrily. The boy sighed and walked over. "Tuff what happened to you?" he asked in his usual way.
Tuffnut grunted and glared at him. "Ruffnut is a stupid UGLY girl and beat me up because shes jealous shes not the good looking one!" He yelled causing hiccup to take a step back. He huffed and crossed his arms. "Stupid girls."
Astrid heard them and looked at Tuffnut. "Stupid boy! Shes your sister! Your not supposed to call her ugly!" She yelled at him and ran to the twins house only to have Ruffnuts mother turn her back to the training grounds because Ruffnut was grounded.
8 years old:
Ruffnut sat angrily on a log, her hair in shambles. She grunted and kicked at the dirt with her feet. "Stupid boys..." She sighed in a childish pout.
Astrid happened to see her and went over. "Ruffnut? You okay?" She asked her gently.
Ruffnut just huffed looking away. "I'm fine don't be stupid." She scoffed.
Astrid looked unsure. "What happened to your hair?" She asked her touching her shoulder lightly.
Ruffnut pulled away. "Its none of your business..." She said a bit quieter.
Astrid sighed. "Here. Let me fix it." She said pulling off her helmet giving the sandy haired girl no time to respond as she began fixing the messy hair a section at a time. When she finished she smiled. "There. All pretty!" She said smiling.
Ruffnut looked at her a moment then looked away. "Thanks..." She said quietly and started to walk off.
16 years old:
Astrid waited for her friend at the training grounds. After about an hour she began to worry and went to her home.
Her mother said Ruffnut had already left.
In a panic Astrid went to look for Ruffnut. She ran to the riverside where she saw the girl quietly petting a smaller dragon. "There you are!" She yelled at the girl irritatedly.
Ruffnut looked at her a moment then away. "Go away Astrid!" She yelled back. "Someone like you shouldn't be around someone like me!"
Astrid looked at her confused. "What are you talking about?"
Ruffnut sighed. "Your one of the most beautiful girls in the village. All the guys want to be around you. But me..." she looked down. "I'm just ugly. No one wants to be around me..."
Astrid walked over and pushed her into the water scaring away the dragon.
Ruffnut sat up shocked. "What was that for!?"
Astrid crossed her arms looking at her. "Stop it right now!" She yelled at her friend. "Stop saying your ugly! Your not! Your amazingly beautiful!" She yelled. "There is nothing ugly about you so shut up!"
Ruffnut looked at her shocked and blushed some standing up from the water and hugging the other getting the poor girl soaking wet.
Astrid sighed and hugged her back as she calmed down. There is no ugly here so stop that ok?" she said receiving a small nod from the other girl.
