Her eyes slowly opened. She shook her head and scanned the surroundings.

This... This was the inside of a ship.

It must have been homeworld's.

Amethyst sobbed loudly and curled in the corner of her cell. "I really am a mistake," the purple gem thought to herself. Suddenly, she could hear a voice from the wall behind her.

"Amethyst?"

It was none other than the voice of Pearl.

"Amethyst? Is that you?"

Amethyst remained slouched in the corner, but inched closer to the wall. "Yeah," she sighed.

A sigh of relief came from Pearl. "Oh my word, thank god you're alive. I was so worried. I thought your gem was cracked or your gem got mashed into pieces."

Amethyst shook her head. She huddled up tightly against the wall, and Pearl ended up snugging close to the other side of the wall as well.

"Are you okay?" Amethyst felt tears coming in when Pearl didn't answer. Worried, Amethyst tapped against the wall, and shortly after she began crying uncontrollably. She smashed herself against the wall, her face on the ground. Suddenly, a large sigh was heard from the cell next to her.

"P?"

Pearl started crying as well. Tears streamed down her face and her gem felt weak.

Amethyst felt a pulsing need in her heart. She wanted to, no, she needed to get this off her chest. She kept this in for way too long. It was ruining her. If today was possibly the last day she could see Pearl ever again, the time was now. She got up and fell against the wall, trying to get as close as possible to Pearl.

"P?"

Pearl tilted her head. "What is it, Amethyst?"

Amethyst took a deep sigh. It was time.

"The thing I have to tell you... I... I..."

She wiped away her tears.

"I love you, okay. In the past, it may have seemed as if I hate you, but I never did. I've been in love with you ever since Rose got together with Greg. The only reason I got mad whenever you got upset over Rose... It's just... I can never be as perfect as her. You'll always be in love with someone who was always perfect and there for you. I'm just an overcooked runt."

There was a short silence. Amethyst started to blush madly.

"Amethyst..."

Amethyst turned around. She prepared herself for failure and rejection.

"I never thought... I never thought you would actually feel this way about me. I'm just overly clingy and obsessive. I can't do anything right." She looked at her hands before closing her eyes again. "I love you too, Amethyst."

The two gems' hearts synchronized, beating at the same time. They hurled up against the walls, attempting to be as close as possible. "Stay strong for me, Amethyst," Pearl said quietly before becoming silent.

Amethyst's tears were almost dried up. "I promise. I'd never hurt you."

The two sat in their cells in complete silence until a certain person came to free them.
