I discovered that I enjoy writing one-shots. So, here is yet another Warriors one-shot featuring one of three of my OTPs: Hawkfrost x Ivypool. Strange? yes. I actually hate Hawkfrost, but I adore the pairing.
It couldn't be possible. Ivypool's clear blue gaze was wide is shock as the ThunderClan deputy felled the mighty Hawkfrost, his own brother. But it was true. Just barely a heart-beat ago, Brambleclaw reared and brought his large paws armed with thick claws down his brother's chest. The crowd watched, their hearts racing as the long rivalry between the two finally came to an end, with pure righteousness of their deputy coming out as the victor. This moment would be a story remembered through countless generations to come. Around her, Ivypool's clanmates cheered, but she couldn't find herself sharing in this triumph. Ivypool closed her eyes and began to relive moments ago.
Long, bramble-sharp claws came down, and Ivypool didn't dare look away. She couldn't. Beneath Brambleclaw's killing blow, Hawkfrost's eyes glittered with every emotion possible. How did she know? He was looking straight at her. Then claws met chest, forcing Ivypool into a trance. Moments of Hawkfrost's life flashed past her. There was Mothwing, RiverClan's medicine cat, and another cat she assumed was their brother. There was the great journey after a brief farewell to someone who must have been their mother. And his death by the lake. She watched in awe as images of her flashed before her. Her heart began to throb. It was strange. And she felt her jaw drop as she found herself in nearly every moment after.
There was a moment that played out in her mind. She had just curled up to return to the world of the living when several cats grouped around her including Hawkfrost. Ivypool watched as the vision of her faded leaving Hawkfrost and his companions. One cat laughed, "Is that the one you said he was going soft for?"
"Yeah," mewed another, "She's the one."
"What are you talking about?" Hawkfrost's voice was full of embarrassment, and Ivypool couldn't help but let out an amused purr. "Don't be ridiculous," he continued, "I'm not in love with her!" A she-cat stepped forward, obviously eager to join in on the teasing, "We never said you loved her!" Before Ivypool could see what happened next, a new memory swept in, a more recent one. But as the memory began to unfurl itself, Ivypool saw it was her reveal of her traitorous ways against the Dark Forest.
Suddenly, a wave of emotion crashed over her. Pain? Anger? A voice wailed through her mind, "No! It can't be true! She wouldn't lie to me!" It was Hawkfrost's voice. She felt herself tremble with sorrow. Sobs shook Ivypool's body, and she was thrown from Hawkfrost' mind, his wails still echoing in her mind.
Hardly any time had passed. Hawkfrost's body had faded away... forever. His memories would die with Ivypool, but the true depth of his emotion was gone with him.
Everything that could have been was stricken down at Brambleclaw's powerful claws, and he would never know. No one would ever know except Ivypool. Right then, she promised to keep Hawkfrost's last thoughts within her. They were warm and full of comfort. I only feel pity for him... But I'll treasure what he has shown to me. Thank you, my friend...
And with that, Ivypool went to Hollyleaf to give her one last thanks.
Well that went a little off course of what I was originally going for, but I guess it's not bad... Have a lovely night/day my lovelies!
