Cedric Diggory was sitting at the breakfast table, his chin hurting from where he had nicked himself earlier that morning. He was supposed to be thinking about the next challenge in the Triwizard Tournament but for some reason he couldn't keep his mind on one thing. Then there was the whole Cho and Marietta thing. What was a boy to do when he couldn't even get his girlfriend alone.

"You look like you're in pain," Marietta Edgecombe said, sauntering over to him and sitting down in front of him. "Hurt yourself shaving this morning?" she asked in that stupid way of hers. Like she knew every single thing about him even though this was one of the first times she had even said a word to him!

"No," he said sulkily, rubbing his chin again but not looking at her. She smirked, but didn't look away. "What? Do you want to bring up my non-skills in shaving again?"

"So you nicked yourself. What's so wrong with that?" she asked, flicking her dark hair behind one shoulder. "I mean, I'm sure guys nick themselves all the time."

"No. Not me. I mean, I have to be perfect. All the time. What would happen if I would suddenly slip up and everyone sees me?" Cedric finally let out, telling her all of his woes. "Everyone would go for Potter and I would have no one going for me!"

"That's so not true!" Marietta said, her eyes sliding towards him again. "You would have me and Cho. And the entire Hufflepuff House! So stop blowing things out of proportion!"

"Ow," Cedric said, rubbing the nick again. "Razor blades hurt!"

"No duh," she said meanly, rolling her eyes. "Let me see if I can fix that."

She leaned in close and Cedric held onto the table as she ran her smooth fingers over the cut on his chin. "That hurts!" he gasped, smacking her hand away.

"Stop being such a baby!" she said angrily, putting her hand back on it. "All right. I think I know a spell that will heal it. Hold on." She drew out her wand and concentrated. "Episkey. Now stop milking your wound! You're fine!"

"But it really hurt," he said, tears gathering in his eyes. Marietta rolled her eyes and sat down again. "What are you even doing over here? You're not in Hufflepuff!"

"Well, you looked like you were about cry and I wanted to check if you were okay," Marietta said smoothly, standing up and sliding her hand across Cedric's back. "But it looks like you are, even if you shed a few needless tears! So, I'll see you later, Ced'?"

"Of course. You're Cho's best friend!" he said matter-of-factly, smiling back at her.

"Right. Well, bye," she said quickly, heading back over to the Ravenclaw table.

Cedric smiled and rubbed his chin thoughtfully. All of that nonsense over a silly shaving cut. It wasn't even a sharp razor. But then again, things could come out of unlikely places. Take him for instance. He wasn't dull or useless like Hufflepuffs were usually thought of. He was in the Triwizard Tournament! Maybe he should get cut by a razor more often!
