A/N: This is just a small Drabble that takes place before KH BBS, I hope you enjoy reading!
A river of indigo blue carried itself beyond the horizon. Gone was the bleeding amber of the sun and gone were the echoes of light that in throngs dissipated beyond human sight. Eyes turned upwards, he again watched as flickers, that in an unco-ordinated fashion, take stance against the rapid onslaught of waves that was night. The cacophony of blaring glimpses from far away stars would slowly calm, leaving them to illuminate the land that which was taken by the night scape.
In silence, he again witnessed the arising of stars. So many worlds beyond them, waiting barely at his fingertips. The thought of exploring awoke something primal in him, an urge for exploration akin to a child's fantasy. His hands would stretch out, fingers curling along a string of stars like one would to holding sand in their hands. Both were fleeting, never a stagnant reality. An idea that would linger around until slowly washed away with all the commotion of real life. So many worlds laid beyond his feet, basically minutes away without little effort on his part. And so many times, like a child, listened avidly to the tales of Eraqus and his adventures as an explorer of new worlds, as a guardian of the stars due to his duties as a Keyblade Master. Every time, he was always deep emerald in envy. He could almost taste the tangy bite of sea salt on his lips, the grinding feeling of sand between toes, the wisps of ribbon like wind that travelled faster than any vehicle he knew from just only stories he had heard from his surrogate father. But yet, he was stuck with the stars as a nightly reminder of what he could not yet have... and one of the reasons he needed to train.
His thoughts dissipated as he heard the rustling of grass behind him.
"Ven, it's getting late you know." The blond turned back and smiled, meeting both the serene faces of Aqua and Terra before turning back.
"I know I know. Just... A couple more minutes, please?" He could here both of them sigh behind him and imagined the amused looks the two would give each other. He then felt their gazes turn from him upwards, towards the expanse above.
"One day Ven, when we are all key blade masters, maybe we can go out exploring together. Until then, we all have to train to get stronger!" The two males gave wide grins to Aqua's words. They trained everyday, mostly till their breaths were as ragged as the training keyblade Ventus received from Terra as a present. Even though both Aqua and Terra were taking their Mark of Mastery in just over a week, he couldn't help but get excited for the two. He had seen them train hard for weeks for this sole occasion and in his eyes they both deserved it.
"We'll just have to wait and see, won't we Terra?" Ventus imagined Terra smirking at Aqua's teasing tone in which easily carved an amused smile onto his face.
"Of course, I won't go easy on you."
"I wouldn't have it any other way." A moment of silent rivalry was broken by small chuckles before tranquility again settled in.
"One day..." I will travel beyond this world was left unsaid by Ventus as the trio enjoyed the serene dance of twinkling lights above.
One day.
