AYCEtDIC: 119. (character) Remus Lupin

Remus Lupin knew that he had a lot of adjusting he was going to have to do once he was back home. He had been in the hospital for the last six months healing from all the wounds he sustained during the Final Battle at Hogwarts. He wanted nothing more than to finally be at home with his wife and his son. He had made Tonks swear that she wouldn't come to visit him because he didn't want her seeing him like this.

He took in a deep breath and let it out as he took one more look around the room he had stayed in for the last six months. He wanted to make sure that he had everything so that he wouldn't have to return. Once he was sure he had everything he walked out of it and then out of the hospital. He knew that he was safe to apparate, so he did just that.

He let out a sigh of relief when he saw his house in front of him. He was happier than he could ever remember being when he saw his wife standing on the porch. He made his way to her only to stop and brace himself as his wife ran to him. He picked her up and swung her around before he kissed her deeply. "I have missed you, Dora."

Tonks smiled as she pulled Remus' head back towards her and kissed him. "I've missed you too, Remus. I'm so happy that you're finally back where you belong. I love you, Remus. Welcome home!"

Remus chuckled as he set Tonks down on her feet and led her towards the house. He couldn't wait to see his son or the inside of his house. He smiled when he heard his son calling for him and knew that the day was only going to get better. He walked into the living room and grinned when he saw his two-year-old son. "How are you doing, son?"

Teddy looked up. "Daddy, you home!"

Remus dropped down to his knees in front of Teddy. "I'm home, buddy, and I'm not going anywhere ever again! I love you, son!"

Teddy threw his arms around Remus' neck and hugged him. "I love you, daddy."

Remus kissed Teddy on the head and stood back up. He looked at Tonks with a loving smile on his face. "Thank you for the homecoming."

Tonks smiled softly. "We're glad to have you home, Remus."

Remus pulled her into his arms. "I'm glad to be home. Thank you for making sure that it was only you and Teddy here when I got home. I didn't want to see a lot of people right away."

Tonks shook her head. "I'm selfish, Remus, and I wanted you to myself for a while. Well besides sharing you with Teddy. I have all your favorites cooking."

Remus chuckled. "I love you, Nymphadora Tonks-Lupin. I can't wait to sleep with you in my arms tonight."

Tonks kissed Remus once more before she pushed him to where he was sitting on the couch. She sat down next to him and cuddled into his side. She grinned when she saw him watching Teddy closely. She knew that this was the homecoming that meant the most to him. "He's missed you."

Remus looked at Tonks and smiled before turning to look at his son once again. "I've missed him. I can't wait to start playing with him and spending time with him. I love seeing him playing like this. I have missed so much, but now I have the rest of my life to watch him play and grow up."

He sat back and closed his eyes. He listened to his son and Tonks move around and smiled. He dozed off while listening to them playing and/or doing chores around the house.
