Disclaimer: I wish I owned Law and Order, but I sadly don't own it.
It was Thanksgiving Day, the first Thanksgiving that Fin and Melinda were spending as a couple. They were sitting on the balcony of Melinda's beach house in Delaware. Their friends had invited them to the party they were having, but they wanted to spend it alone.
It was a very pretty day. The sun was shining and a light breeze was blowing through. Melinda was sitting on Fin's lap, with his arms wrapped around her. They were talking about anything that came to mind. Melinda laughed at something he had said, and he smiled.
He loved the sound of her voice, especially her laugh. That was only one of the many things he loved about her though. He loved her personality. She was so caring. She put everyone else before herself. She often worked very late, trying to find evidence for the detectives, and she ended up not getting enough sleep because of this. He always told her she is too nice to them.
He buried his nose in her thick, curly hair. He loved that her hair always smelled of strawberries, and that when she smiled, her whole face lit up and her happiness shone through her eyes. He could always tell her emotions by looking into her deep brown eyes. He thought that she was the most beautiful woman in the world, though she often saw herself as not. He still didn't understand why she would've ever thought that. He wanted her to be the mother of his children, and that day, he was going to ask her to be his forever.
"So what are you thankful for?" She asked as she turned slightly to look at him.
"Well, I'm thankful for my job, my friends and the beautiful woman that I'm lucky enough to have sitting in my arms." He said truthfully, and he laid a kiss on her forehead. She blushed slightly and pecked his lips lightly. He smiled at her. "I'd be even more thankful if that beautiful woman would become my wife."
She was shocked. "What?" She questioned when she found her voice.
"Will you marry me, Mel?" He pulled out the case with the ring in it and opened it, before he continued. "I know that I don't deserve you, but I promise to spend every day trying to make myself deserving of you. Mel, I really love you and if…"
She cut him off by kissing him tenderly. "Stop it, you do deserve me. We deserve each other, and yes, I will marry you."
"Really?" He asked as he took the ring out of its case.
"Really" She repeated as he slipped the ring on her finger. She kissed him again, with more passion this time. "Fin, make love to me." She mumbled against his lips.
He pulled back a little. "Are you sure?" He asked while looking her in the eyes. He knew that she had been physically hurt by her past loves, and she didn't trust people that well.
She nodded before crushing their mouths together. She let out a sultry moan as they kissed. He enveloped her waist in his arms, and he stood. She in turn, locked her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist. He walked inside the room and towards the bed, where he gently laid her on it. He climbed on top of her and looked into her eyes before kissing her again. That night they made love for the first time, becoming one and promising to be with each other forever.
