*WARNING! SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 65!"
The library was crowded with groups of friends talking to themselves, as usual, but in one corner sat a student gathering books in a tall pile. As she carefully waddled to the front desk to check them out, Haruhi gave a small smile to a group of girls staring at her admirable. They gave a collective sigh and blushed as she turned to the librarian.
Slowing walking back to the open halls of the school, she thought of the past few months. As her feelings for Tamaki-senpai became apparent to her, she began rethinking life as a male student and wished that she could declare to the world, "I love Souh Tamaki, and don't you think anything of it 'cause I'm a girl!"
Of course, she would never, ever, do such a thing. It just wasn't a Haruhi-like thing to do. But ever since Kanoya Megumi stepped into the picture, she wondered if being spun by Tamaki and wearing a white one piece was really that bad. She laughed softly to herself at such ridiculous notions as she returned her attention to getting home safely without tripping over objects hidden by her towering book pile.
Haruhi blinked twice. Was that Tamaki-senpai in the distance? He looked content sitting on a bench. Haruhi smiled and hoped he was feeling better. Her smile disappeared as Kanoya appeared into her line of view. Tamaki was asking about her in his host-like fashion. "Haruhi?! What happened?"
She quickly gathered her books as Tamaki started asking questions about food.
'Okay, so he like maple syrup on his hotcakes,' Haruhi thought and barely followed the conversation, mortified at being clumsy in front of Tamaki again… and in such a manner!
"I was thinking that you and I are quite different…" Tamaki said.
Haruhi grew quite for some time before hastily saying something about thinking he would say something serious and that being obvious.
"And anyway, being as weird as Tamaki-senpai is, one is more than enough!" She blushed.
She ran out saying she'd go early, and her chest constricted as she heard in the distance, "Would you go out with me?"
-----------------------------------------------
He has to say no, he had to! Haruhi thought back to all the times Tamaki annoyed her at his crazy daydreams. But now that his fantasy became a real, physical thing that he could pursue after…
She took at shaky breath as she slid down her door that she was leaning on. Looking around, she suddenly grew angry. Was it because she wasn't from a prestigious family? Was it only because she lived in a world so new and foreign to him that Tamaki was interesting in her?
'Now that he knows what a fabulous commoner's life I live, he'd just abandon me for a girl that suits him better?'
A tear slipped out as Haruhi sobbed for a minute, then she drew herself together again. She walked into the bathroom and flushed her face with cold water and stared into the mirror.
"It's fine, you don't care who senpai likes," she lied to her reflection.
It stared back at her with sad eyes and screamed silently, "But I love him!
