"Night, the beloved…"

Wow! My fourth story, never thought I would make it, I'm proud of myself...

This one I picture it set in season 4, under the old saying "Where there was fire, ashes remain."

Special thanks: to starofoberon for reviewing all my stories. Thank you!

If you have read my preview stories you already know two things:

1) I don't own a single thing.

2) My english knowledge is limited, so there probably are mistakes (I'm confused when to use on and when is in, luckily I'll get it right) ;)

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry wrote:

"Night, the beloved.
Night, when words fade and things come alive.
When the destructive analysis of day is done, and all that is truly important becomes whole and sound again.
When man reassembles his fragmentary self and grows with the calm of a tree."

It happens in the nights he goes to check on his son, to check on her. When he needs to make sure they're ok, to believe they're safe.

They know it should stop. In one way or another, they both already made their choices. As painful as it was, as it is, they took separate paths, tied only by their son.

They know it's not healthy for any of them. It will hurt in the morning, when he leaves to continue his chase and she stays to continue living her and their son's life.

But they keep finding each other.

It's not on purpose, not consciously anyway.

It's not intended when she asks "How you've been?", or in the half smile he gives her, or in the accidental touch of their hands.

They can't deny it. They can't fight it. They just let it happen.

On those nights they are what they used to be. They remember. They relive. They feel.

On those nights they're allowed to say what in daylight is now forbidden.

No with words, but in the way they look at each other eyes, in the way he kisses her, in the way she arches against him, in the way his hands travel over her body, in the way his name escapes from her lips.

On those nights the world, life and time no longer matter.

His need to save everyone stops.

Her demands for a normal life are gone.

On those nights they forget that their love can't be.

On those nights they just let their love exist.
