I ran across the semi-lit street (The city SO needed to put up more street lamps..) and ducked into the nearest safe looking building: Pet Co. I dashed behind the rabbit cages, hoping to hide from my stalkers.
I watched their silhouettes dash across the window, and sighed in relief. Two hours. Two fricking HOURS. That's how long I'd been running from Kai and Riku (a/n Blood Plus Alert!).
"Um…Miss…? My manager says you either have to buy something or leave…"
I looked up at the cashier- a short, jittery looking red head- and decided to play the 'Nice Girl' bit.
"Oh, yes, of course. Sorry, my friends and I were messin' around and I meant to come in earlier, but I lost track of time." I looked up at the clock: 9:14. They'd be closing soon.
She looked relieved.
Oh, if only you knew…but it's better you don't.
"So..um..is there anything I can help you with?"
I didn't want her watching me, so I decided to accept her help sooner than later, and said the frist thing that popped into my head:
"Yes, I wanted to buy some cats. I mean, I like dogs and all, but cats are just so much better (a/n LIES!)."
"Oh, y-yes, we have some in the back; here, I'll show you."
Stupid stupid stupid stupid!
How could I be so stupid? Now she'll be expecting me to buy a cat!
She walked (more like bounced…) over to the cages, but stopped short.
"Um…well…we have some rather…unusual..cats today. They were found on the side of the road, so someone brought them here…but we'll have more normal cats next week, if you'd like to come back then..?"
I had to hold back a snort; she said it like a kicked puppy looking for approval. She could at least try to pull herself together long enough to tell me how things are. Spineless…
"Well, I'd like to see them. I might like 'unusual'." I grinned cheerily before stepping past her to the kitten cages.
Holy shit….
Love it? Hate it? Too tired to actually care?
I know it's short, but I have like the next 3-4 chapters planned out, I just need to see how people respond to this first.
Rate, review, blah blah blah….
