This place was hell.
Oh sure, she had been through worse, but at this moment, sitting in the cramped, stuffy cubical, doing a job she hated, made this hell.
She stares at the clock, willing it to go faster.
"C'mon…just two more minutes" She whispers as she gathers her things.
Finally the clock strikes five.
"Oh thank God" She gathers the rest of her things and head to the elevator. As the doors begin to shut, she feels her phone start to vibrate in her bag. She rummages through, wondering why the hell there's so much junk in there anyway, when she finally grabs it.
"Hello?"
It had taken some time to stop answering with "Walker". It had also taken some time to get used to her new life. Every day it feels as if she's waking up from a dream, or living the life of someone else. She holds onto this ongoing fear that one day she's going to wake up and find it all to be a dream.
"Hey there beautiful, how was work?" Jack says in that husky tone that she loves so much.
She closes her eyes as his voice washes over her. It's been almost five years, and his voice still makes her heart flutter. Some days it drives her completely bonkers that his voice can make her feel that way. After her parents died, she prided herself on being able to survive on her own. Now things are different. She doesn't know what she would do without him.
"Oh you know, I freaking hate it, but whatever" She says as the elevators open, and she steps out, and steps right into…her Jack. It's been two months since she's last seen him; he was away on CTU business. It's been two months that she slept alone, looking at his side of the bed and wishing he could hold her. She hates that she let herself become so dependent on him. She dependent on Jack more than he knew. With him gone, she found it hard to breathe, like her heart was missing, and only he could fill the empty void. It was a secret that she kept to herself…
Or so she thought. Jack knew…because he's become the same way. He hasn't felt this way since…well since Teri. He thought he lost his final shot at love when he lost Audrey, but now he sees that his love for Audrey was different. It wasn't full…not like what he had with Teri. He thought he would never find anyone to completely fill that void until she walked into his life…
