"Hey Jim, what ya doing?" Near asked as he sat beside his friend.
"Not much. I'm just playing Halo and texting Karen." Jim replied.
"Oh, ok." Near said as he pulled out a Lego car and rolled it along the floor.
The two boys sat in silence with an occasional scream from the TV and a vroom from Near's cars sound effects.
"Hey Jim, can I tell you something and you not freak out on me? You know and feel different around me?" Near finally broke the silence.
"Yeah I got time." Jim paused his game. "Besides Karen hasn't texted me back. What's up?"
"I think I'm gay..."
-silence-
"Are you sure?" Jim asked as his voice cracked.
"I'm pretty sure." Near nodded his head. "I feel intimate feelings for the opposite gender. It makes me uncomfortable to talk about it."
"Hey well you know I'm here whenever you need to talk." Jim placed a reassuring hand on his friends shoulder.
"Anything?" Near repeated. "Anything at all?"
"Sure Near. You're starting to scare me. Are you ok?" Jim narrowed his eyes.
"I'm alright." Near lowered his head. "Jim, those feelings I feel... They're for you."
-More silence-
"And you are completely sure about that?"
"Yes. I'm 98.5 percent positive." Near nodded, proud to feel a bit like L.
"Then what I'm about to do won't feel weird."
Near gasped as Jim pressed down on his shoulder and leaned in. Lips met and teeth clashed. Near quickly readjusted and wrapped his arm around Jim's neck. Jim pressed his body against Nears, pushing more into the kiss.
As they slowly pulled away Near whispered, "Jim... I didn't know..."
Jim placed a finger against Nears throbbing lips and stopped him mid-sentence. "Near, its fine. I'll go as far as you'll let me."
Near took Jim's finger in his mouth and licked it. Pulling it back out, Near blushed and said, "I'm all yours."
