Life's Little Twists

"Piper!" Jason called up the stairs "are you ready for school?"

"Coming, Dad" she replied running down the stairs

"Piper you know you shouldn't watch TV while getting ready" he said "either way, it's time for school."

"Okay then let's go" Piper grabbed her book bag as they headed to the car.

"Piper, remember t write down your homework assignments, I don't want to get another report saying you didn't do you're homework" Jason said

They arrived at Angel Grove Jr. High with plenty of time to spair.

"Whew, I won't be late to day" Piper thought "Ms. Mathews would have a fit if I was late to her class again, I'd probably get detention."

"Piper" a voice thought

"Kathy?" Piper turned to see her best friend Kathy Mitchell ran to her.

"You're early"

"Yeah, my dad kind of made me come early" Piper laughed. "He said that I would be late to my own funeral, he also says I'd lose my own head if it weren't attached to my neck, that or lose it."

They laughed as the bell to go to class rang, it was a new day, and they were ready for whatever it threw at them.

Jason was surprised by the phone call that came in when he got home after dropping off Piper at school. It was one of his old teammates, and he realized that things were all going to change.

Piper was getting to third period when she noticed a coin on her desk. It was a gold coin but it had a red glint to it, and when she picked it up and saw that there was a T-Rex on the front of the coin.

"What could this be?" she wondered to herself and then stuck the coin in her pocket as class began. Science, particularly, Physics, wasn't really her strongest subject. Then again she wasn't really good at anything having to do with math.

"Piper, you do know that you're supposed to be taking notes." The teacher said crossly

"Yes sir, I'm just not very good at it, I was going to…"

"Going to what, Miss. Scott?" he asked

"Copy Cindy's notes…"

"Try to take your own, Piper, and talk to me after class, I think I have a solution that might help you."

After class Piper approached the teacher's desk and was surprised when he pulled out a tape recorder.

"Check with your teachers about using this, it won't help with things written on the board, but lectures, it will help there."

"Thank you, I will." Piper left thinking that she would probably forget she had the thing and not ask or use it and it would end up being a complete waist of space and time.
