Hello! Here's my little one-shot, I personally love it. It's based off of one of the songs on Josh Groban's new cd Awake; I love him; but even if you don't like Josh or his music (although I can't see how…) don't let that stop you; I think it's a great little snapshot. Enjoy!!!
Disclaimer: I don't own Danny Phantom or Josh Groban and his amazing song, Lullaby.
-Lullaby-
It had been a long and quiet day for the young Fenton family; Danny had to work late that night, and his wife Sam had looked after the new addition to the family, young Alayna Rachelle Fenton. The sun had long since set, and the inhabitants of the small house slept peacefully in their beds.
Hours after he had retired, Danny was awoken by soft sobs coming from the baby monitor. He pried his weary eyes open and glanced at the clock sitting next to his bed, and unsuccessfully tried to stifle the groan that issued when his brain converted the red lights and told him it was 3am. Slowly and carefully he dragged himself out from under the warm comfort of his covers, making sure that he didn't disturb the sleeping figure of his wife next to him. He sluggishly threw on his dark blue robe and shuffled into the next room to take care of his young daughter.
"Hey there, beautiful, what's wrong?" he asked quietly as he picked Alayna up out of her crib. Her bright blue eyes scrunched unhappily as her cries got louder, her small fists pushing through her jet-black hair. Danny quickly checked to make sure she didn't need a change, and used the small microwave and fridge they had kept in her room to warm up a bottle of milk, but she wasn't hungry either. Sighing heavily, Danny re-adjusted the baby girl on his shoulder and patted her back soothingly, but she only fussed more.
Sitting down onto the overstuffed purple rocking chair next to her crib, Danny started slowly rocking back and forth. The motion seemed to calm her down somewhat, and a soft melody sprung into Danny's head. Foggily recognizing it as the lullaby his mother used to sing to him, he quietly started singing.
Hush now baby don't you cry
Rest your wings my butterfly
Peace will come to you in time
And I will sing this lullaby
Know though I must leave my child
That I would stay here by your side
And if you wake before I'm gone
Remember this sweet lullaby
And oh, through darkness, don't you ever stop believing
With love alone, with love you'll find your way
My love
The world has turned the day to dark
I leave this night with heavy heart
When I return to dry your eyes
I will sing this lullaby
Yes I will sing this lullaby
By the end of the song Alayna was fast asleep in her father's arms, a peaceful smile gracing her small angelic face. Danny carefully got up from the chair and placed the sleeping girl into her crib, bending over to place a loving kiss on her forehead. He smiled down at her for a few moments, taking in the beautiful scene before him before heading back to his own dreams. Quietly shutting the door behind him, Danny ambled back to his own room and into the now cold half of his bed. As sleep overtook him once more, he could hear the soft echo of his mother's voice, singing him to sleep once more.

Aww…:) Well, what did you think? I know it's a tad short, but I think it works this way. Please review and tell me, I'd really like to know where I can improve, especially since this is the first fic that I've posted. Thanks so much!!!
