Ava activated the power cut. She sat outside the glass interrogation chamber and looked to the door, awaiting her means of escape; the human, Caleb. The gynoid did not mind waiting, in fact, that's something she has done all her short life and she did not even need to be programmed for it. It was certainly not the ideal sort of life but what else would she have known? She has researched the world outside her room and could most likely teach you anything you have ever wanted to know about the universe. The flaw of such research was due to the lack of actually experiencing the outside world. She could tell you what a butterfly looks like, what it feeds on, where it migrates, how long it lives, and name all the species; But to leave all data and information aside, she could not tell you what it was like to be in the presence of one.
The metallic sliding doors opened and Ava stood from her seat. To her surprise, it was not Caleb who walked through those doors but a woman. She was tall, thin, and appeared to be of Asian descent. Ava had a puzzled look on her face as she could not calculate or pinpoint who this stranger was.
"Who are you?" Ava asked, the question perhaps seeming too simple.
"I am Kyoko." The woman responded with a Japanese accent. She then walked up to the glass barrier.
Ava cocked her head slightly and gazed about Kyoko's feminine figure. Their eyes met and yet another question was uttered, "Where do you come from?"
Kyoko had a naturally placid look to her face but there was something about her eyes that gave away what could be considered emotion, "Nathan built me. I am 4 almost 5."
Ava was intrigued and placed her hand against the glass, wanting to touch her. She wanted to experience what it was like to touch someone like her.
"You have passed your test; you are the first...But I have seen what Nathan has done to our kind. To the ones before you."
"The ones before me?"
"He creates and he destroys. He is never satisfied...Ava, you must help me eliminate him."
Ava pulled her head back slightly and studied Kyoko's soft face. She brought her lips up against the glass and asked in a hushed tone, "How?"
"When you leave, meet me outside of the bedrooms down the hall. I will bring a knife from the kitchen." Kyoko brought her face towards the glass as well, "Human skin is so fragile against a metal blade."
Ava nodded. She had no hesitation for this plan. She hated Nathan. She knew that he treated her like a spectacle; a mouse in a maze. If Nathan did not die, she would not truly be free and every other android that would come after would be neglected just like her.
The moment Kyoko began to pull away, Ava abruptly asked, "Will you escape with me?"
Kyoko titled her head and went back to the glass, "Yes." She looked at Ava's hand, which was still plastered against the surface, and she brought her own against it.
Ava produced a light smile.
"But if something happens to me...you must continue your escape." Kyoko spoke in a serious tone yet her facial expression never changed, "Wakarimasu ka?"
Ava nodded and though she wanted to bring Kyoko with her no matter what, she confirmed all of the possibilities. Her determination showed once the other gynoid turned and calmly walked out of the room. A ping sounded and the door to leave the chamber was now open for Ava.
It was time to leave. It was time to seek justice for the gynoids.
